Z92T problems

Hi All,

I just received my Z92T today from gentechpc. In the bios, I noticed that the DVD drive has been setup as primary. Is this the standard setup? If no, is there any way that I can change the hard disk to primary without sending it to the dealer?

I am also having problems with frequent random crashes. Is anybody else facing the same problem?

Thanks

We didn't set the optical drive to master, it came from Asus.

Try download the new BIOS: ftp://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/A...-ASUS-0601.rar

I think you need to rename the file to A6T.com after you unzip it, burn it to the CD and restart your computer and press F4 to flash BIOS.

If it says BIOS not found...erasing BIOS don't panic, someone turn off the computer and destory the BIOS when they see erasing BIOS.

is there any documentation on how to upgrade bios?

Also, I am unable to update the nvidia drivers. I keep getting the error "The NVIDIA setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit". What do I need to do?

Current version is 84.66. I tried installing 91.48 and 92.91 and got same error for both the cases.

Thanks

Ken, I used Winflash and was able to successfully flash the bios...

i also updated by drivers by giving manual driver selection..i selected 7600 GS from the list, because it was the nearest matching one...

hopefully, the crashing should stop now..i think it could be because of corrupt bios..because earlier I could not see the ASUS screen during bootup...it would display blank for 3-4 seconds and then would take me directly to XP screen...i had also checked that the option in bios to display the logo is enabled.

one more problem..i did not get the Turion X2 sticker along with the laptop. I checked the entire packing. I could only find a 'built on ASUS' sticker. But no Turion X2 sticker. How can I get this?

Thanks

I get blue screens of death from my sound card(PCMIA Aduigy 2), do you think upgrading the BIOs could result in any benifits? even if its not to solve a problem from external device?

And is there anyway to over clock the CPU?

so its not erasing BIOS? I think i paniced when i saw that screen and turned off the computer but somehow its still fine phew... (my cat steppd on the keyboard)

to add to my woes, the WLAN card has just disappeared...the WLAN LED is on..but ASUS utility says that there is no WLAN card.

I am able to see the device in device manager..I even tried disabling and enabling the device..but the WLAN wouldn't work..help is required urgently

Try to winflash this new beta bios 701G from Ken @ GenTech. He says he got it from Asus and that they fixed something with the video card ram in it. Post I have read point to the GPU for many of the freezing problems and other strange happenings with the Z92T. Fortunately I have only had the random freezing issue which gradually subsided with the driver updates and now since the BIOS update has stopped freezing (albeit it has only been about 12 hours). I stress tested my PC overnight with no errors, however I did not get any errors when it was randomly freezing either. Download the bio and update it. I did it with no issues.
