Having trouble with my 9300 Defense systme

I started up my computer yesterday morning and my avg free said the virus data base was out of date, so I updated it. And ofcourse the windows security center tells me the same thing.
Now I updated it and it still says its out of date and the avg icon is still grey. Also the my windows defender says I need to check for new definitions and ofcourse I click the button it tells me It is connecting to the internet and then another little box pops up from the icon saying new definitions available, but no where to click to down load them. The one and only thing that seems to work in my defense systme is Ad-Aware Se I did a full systme scan and there was one critical item and I had it removed. Any Ideas fellas?

1) Right click AVG icon > Updating > Program Update
2) Start > Windows (or Microsoft) Update > Custom > Install Updates

I already updated everything and installed, and nothing has changed. Think it might be a virus or something?

could be. I wouldnt be too sure though. Run an online scan from mcaffee or somewhere and get an external opinion. Assuming your internet still works...

Reinstall AVG, update it, boot in safe mode and scan... (I also personally like turning system restore off too but thats to your discretion)

Could it have had something to do with the date the computer was set on? because that seemed to fix it.
I was looking at the date and time and looked at october and it stayed on oct. My gf changed it back and everything was all good.
