Having trouble finding the 2nd memory slot on my R3030EA

Hi

I know that my laptop has 2 slots for RAM, each slot taking up to 1GB maximum RAM (so 2GB RAM maximum capacity).

I have found one of the compartments for the memory, which is in the middle of the laptop underneath the keyboard.

But this seems to have only one memory slot. I can't find the other one.

Does anyone have any idea where this other slot is located?

Thanks

the other ram bay should be at the bottom (from outside) next to the hdd and the battery

Thanks so much for that info and those links

I didn't realize one of the memory slots were so inaccessible - being under the keyboard

That is just silly design.

Why can't they just do a double decker design and put one on top of the other?

It would freak me out to do that emachines one. I'm a desktop person anyway, so everything to do with laptops seem minature to me.

I think I can just about handle the HP Compaq RAM (under the keyboard).

I didn't know manufactureres colour coded screws so that they could tell if you tampered with it. I don't think HP Compaq has any of those.

Fingers xx

Hi

I'm currently trying to install RAM in the impossible part of my laptop (under the keyboard).

I am stuck on stage 8, 9 and 10

I have no idea how this panel is removed. I've already removed the screws from underneath the laptop, so it should be coming off easily (in theory)

Would really appreciate any advice

use a credit card, slide under "8", pry it up,
and then go left to right - u should be able to "pop/snap" the bezel up

It was touch and go but I managed to do it with a stanley knife. I couldn't think what had a thinner edge.......probably not the best thing, but no scratches - phew.

The laptop has recongnized the 2GB RAM I put in and now I'm transferring 5gb of work from the laptop to an external hard drive.

I'm coming accross a major problem. The laptop keeps on crashing as it's copying over.

Is there a reason for this? The laptop has a 2.8Ghz CPU, 2GB RAM, 128MB ATi shared graphics and a 40GB HDD.

Why would it be crashing?
