The core duo does have a different cooling assembly. The heat sink itself is the same but has an added heat sink pipe that you see in the pic above. The problem with the heatsink is that it doesn't have any cooling fins. The fan spins and draws air over the surface of the sink which is very inefficient. That's a big reason why the fan runs almost all the time.

jor, is the plam rest on the left D420 glossy or are my eyes playing tricks on me?

By the way, I love your Optimus Prime (Transformers) figure, especially as you have it holding your spoon! Is that the 20th Anniversary Limited Edition Optimus Prime figure or something?

You have a good pair of eyes the new one came with a plastic palm rest film. I hadn't taken it off by then.

The Optimus Prime, he ROCKS, doesn't he? it's a gift from a friend. I don't know if it's 20th anniversary version or not. this version is different from what I used to play with, I mean the way he transforms is different.

Speed, now you should be glad that you didn't buy the D420, right? does M1210 go hot? will the fan turn itself off? Why can't there be a perfect ultraportable, which is cheap ???
