Help, 5690 back from repair, now what?

Thread Starter
I sent my 5690 in for repair on July 8, 2006. I got it back last week 9-8-06. They had to replace the MOBO at Sager, and everything 'seemed' fine. I have since been using it and I find that the Numeral one/exclamation, tilde(sp), CAP LOCK, and ESC keys don't work.
Warentech wants it back, but I don't want to be without it for months again.
Any Ideas as to what might be wrong this time?

Something underneath the keys? You can pry the key up and remove what lies beneath, but this must be done carefully...try a can of compressed air. Since the mobo was removed, you might try removing and reseating the cable connecting the keyboard to the motherboard, too.

Nothing running in the background (program that uses macros)?

Definitely check to make sure the keyboard ribbon's properly seated. Check to see if it looks damaged, too.

When I had my first laptop (about 300 years ago), I had occasional key problems and Fujitsu ended up replacing the motherboard. Might want to talk to Sager and see if there isn't a way to guarantee that you won't be w/o your machine for months on end. That's just utterly ridiculous.

Hey .. that's funny same thing happened to me, and I thought it was my fault, some of my keys simply don't work while others require extreme pressure to fuction, seemingly my entire number bar at the top stopped working. I think i'm going to send mine back in, though this post is REALLY old, I thought i'd tell ya you're not alone.
