Does anyone know anyone who has actually ordered the XPS with the extreme edition CPU option? Are those "super chips "somewhere collecting dust until the they get real with the prices?

and plus I dnio't really think its worth the extra 1000, the 3.4 GHZ /w HT outperformed the 3.2 EE ship so I'm guessing the 3.4 EE would only run a bit faster than the 3.4 so not worth the money If you want speed, wait for the 3.6e Prescott

I purchased the 3.4EE when I ordered my XPS, yes it was $800 more but it was what I wanted. Everyone has their own preferences I guess, also here is a link that helps explain the EE performance. http://www.nordichardware.com/review...03/Pentium4EE/

Nothing wrong with getting what you want, if you got the paper. I still don't think the EE club is going to have many members. I look forward to seeing your benchmarks, if you post them. Try to be kind to us with our wimpy XPS's.

My XPS just shipped, so I will post benchmarks as soon as I can. Looking forward to getting my hands on this thing.

P4EE=Extreme Edition?????????

wasnt P4EE=Pentium 4 Emergency Edition?

after AMD put out their 64 bit chips, Intel had to run for the buck, so it was sort of a Emergency Edition.

JK. it is a great chip but i dont think is cost effective, at least for me, $1000 more for 20% performance increase at the most? i dont think so.
for laptop the best thing out there is the Pentium M chip, sadly enough Dothan is not out yet.

From the latest PC World magazine review benchmarks comparing the EE to other consumer options it should be called "extreme marketing edition" lol...it's all about the hype baby
