ze4560us touchpad help

I just purchased a hp ze4560us laptop.

I want to use a usb wireless mouse with it. I installed a microsoft 4400 wireless notebook mouse.
Other than the touchpad button below the keyboard there is no way to shut down the touchpad. I can't get the usb mouse to work. In the hardware portion of the mouse properties window, it shows both mice.

It doesn't show a disable option for the touchpad, only the usb mouse. If I shut the touchpad off with the button the mouse still doesn't do anything. I've tried changing channels and still nothing.

The mouse properties shows that it's running good, signal strength is100%, so far I'm stumped. I've reloaded both drivers in multiple times to see if that helped, and nothing.

Any help would be great. I've spent hours upon hours reading the hp section, searching all forums, I've searched for the laptop name and the model number and the compatible models and nothing so far.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Yeah I have that loaded.

But I think it might be the mouse itself as I tried it out on my desktop and couldn't get it to work there either.

So it's off to BB and get another one.

Thanks though for your help.
