I tryed out the new Standard Mobility Ati drivers (6.9) from Ati's webite. Ati sets up a check for there drivers to make sure they are comatible with your laptop or maybe to make sure your compatible with only the manufacturer's ATI supports. Either way I recived a link from Psychotic_UK on this Notebookforums thread:

Well thank you Psychotic_UK for your help. I've seemed to hit some bad luck however. I installed the driver with no problems, but I restarted and the laptop took way too long to boot up. The windowsXP logo took around 5-7 times longer to load.
Has anybody else tryed these offical drivers on there ACER 5672 with X1600. Did I do something wrong or I it just not wise to install ATI's drivers. I may have to break down and install the OMEGA set. I dont want to because I heard many bad issues with these modified sets. I've heard they were only optimized for x700 cards not the new x1400 or x1600's.
I need some help, because I would like to use some drivers that give me better optimizations for newer games. Company of Heroes does not run to well with the Acer ati drivers.
Happy gaming folks
