XPS1210 sound glitches and statics*HELP*

I just got a Dell XPS m1210 (specs below). Everytime i play Half life 2, there's always an annoying sound glitch - every 5 seconds or so, a static sound will pop. it also occurs, when i am listening to itunes and try to wecam(mic) chat on msn. I assume it's whenever i run software that requires the mic.

this is what i tried, i formatted my computer and re-installed the drivers. i had to install the sigmatel drivers then install the sound blaster audigy software. i tried all seperate drivers on the site. i called dell to ask for support, they are still looking into it.

-Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7200 (2GHz/667MHz/4MB)
-12 inch WXGA Wide Screen with TrueLife™ and A/V Communications Pack (Intg. web cam, earbuds)
-2GB at 667MHz (2 DIMM)
-120GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
-256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7400 TurboCache™

-Integrated Audio with Sound Blaster® Audigy® ADVANCED HD Audio

This used to be a common issue back in the day relating to sound acceleration. Check your sound properties and see if its possible to dial down or turn off hardware accleration if possisble. Since I am not famililar with how the control panel of the Audigy SOFTWARE panel works or looks like I cannot guide you on the step by step process.
