cmon we all do it just admit it!!! i like to go to Panera and abuse the wifi there haha ive had many people glance at my xps and do a double take. Course there was an article in laptop mag about carting round the 2010 on a subway!!! man that thing is ginormous!!
I love the double takes and the wholly sh!@'s I get when I bust this thing out.

If you have a flashy laptop in college the chances of it getting jacked are high. So i like my M90 it looks classy and does not attract the wrong kinda attention.

This is my senior year and can’t tell you how many missing XPS and Alienware posters I have seen around campus over the last 3 years.

i just can't do that here! lol (Rio de Janeiro :P )
Wow, you're in Rio. I am from there. I live in Orlando and go to school in Boston, so taking the M90 is not a problem here. I wouldn't dare taking it out in Rio though. The crime there is out of control (hence why I'm here).

I don’t really think your physical size matters in this kinda scenario.

Hahaha... you can be 10'4" and a bullet to the head will still lay you down. You don't know what Rio is like. There are kids about 10 years of age carrying guns there. They kill for shoes, I am sure they wouldn't mind doing it for a nice laptop.
thats why you either buy steel case for your laptop and look like an assasin concealing a huge gun.
or buy backpack for your notebook and dress up cheap so people don't think your worth stealing from

as for college, buy something that good on the inside but cheap on the outside, or have that advance GPS component installed into your laptop

Ive only had mine for 3 days and I took it to work lastnight. My M1710 was the talk of the shift. I got alot of compliments but not to many ppl liked the price I paid, lol.

I like to bring it out on the subway, in the concert hall (sound muted of course), and at Cape Canaveral.

aye went to a new panera in a different part of town in SD and notice two other peeps with dells, not xps but inspirons, playing WOW with headphones on. Wonder how long u can use the wifi there before someone complains? Anywhere else wifi available for free??
All Starbucks will have free wi-fi. Down in Florida, we have a popular chain of restaurants called Crispers that also offer free wi-fi. You're best bet those, is to go around college areas. Especially in Cali where colleges are plenty, you'll be able to snatch most wi-fi networks either from the school itself (sometimes protected, requiring logins) or from students sharing theirs (much more common and usually lacks protection).

I do it on college since everybody is getting a lappie now and i don't leave it alone, tought i ahven't seen a lost lappie poster (i live in manizales Colombia) also i tend to take it aout on airports whenever one o fthose dudes that take thier twelve incher and show it off not knowing what to do with it, their face and everybody else is priceless whenever you put a 17" behemoth next to a 12" tiny palm lol priceless, although i don't like to walk around with it in the back, not cause it's heavy but cause it wasn't free and i don't want to have to buy one over again LOL

If you get your laptop stolen from you on a college campus one of two things exist, and of course maybe both.

a) you go to a Ghetto School end of story.Or perhaps you go to a good school that's in the middle of the ghetto like U of C.
b) you're either dumb or clueless.

You know at Stanford I don't belive they even place locks on their bikes.

My girlfriend got her iPod stolen at Harvard. I think it's safe to say that Harvard is not ghetto. She got it stolen by another student who was later caught and expelled from school. It happens everywhere man, you'd be surprised.

Thunder, are you serious? Every SB I've been to in Boston and Florida have had free Wi-Fi. That's odd!

Meh, if she got expelled and they found who stole the Ipod, it's still a pretty safe place, I wouldn't have a problem with keeping my laptop out. Again if it got stolen at Harvard, it would most definately be something lacking on my end.
