Bought a Sony Vaio SZ330

After doing a few weeks of researching for the right notebook that suited for my needs, I wanted a laptop that was light, easy to carry around, and a 64 bit dual core cpu. I looked at the MacBook at Fry's Electronics, Dell XPS M1210 at a Dell kiosk at one of my local malls, HP dv2000 at Best Buy, and the Sony SZ330 at Best Buy. I eliminated the HP dv2000 due to the weak video card. I also removed the Apple MacBook off my list, because it did not have a core 2 duo processor, it would still been on my list if it had the core 2 duo processor.

My top two choices were the Dell XPS M1210 and the Sony SZ330. I bought the Sony over the Dell, because of the larger screen, better build quality, and better screen. With my new purchase, I am going to sell my gaming desktop with the monitor and games since I rarely play pc games. I just prefer to play games on my Xbox 360

I hope that I will enjoy using the Sony SZ330.

After owning a Dell m1710 and a sony SZ series I can tell you the Sony is made with way better build and quality products. The Dells also have horrible screens with a TON of light leekage. Hinges wore out on my m1710 in like 2 weeks. In all the SZ is a bad a$$ little laptop. I love mine. Plus Sony is leet and Dell...well everyone and their grandma has one because no one understands that the Sony is just built a ton better.

Congrats on the SZ330. I just ordered a SZ340 from PC Connection and it should arrive today. I'm headed on a trip out of town and was looking for a very light laptop to take with. I'm also selling a SZ170 that we've had for a couple of years and it has been very reliable. My daughter has been using it and until I got it out to clean it off, I forgot how nice and light and compact they are. I couldn't resist and ordered the SZ340.

I don't think you can beat the SZ series for screen brightness, light weight, and features.

I'm headed to Cancun for 8 days next week and I'll be using the SZ for email, work, and yes, movies... I don't think there is a better laptop for traveling on the market.

I hope to post a review before I leave.

Nice to hear about that as I am going to get it soon. Just want to know about the screen's brightness. Somebody said it is rather dim compared to the Premium SZ ones?

My gf's been looking at the Sony SZ series for a while. Nice build quality, great size and more than enough power.

As the originator of this thread, I decided to sell my SZ330P that I bought at Best Buy, since I bought the SZ370P today at a Compusa for about $200 more than the SZ330P and it is worth the extra money, especially for the brighter screen, carbon fiber casing, lighter weight.

i love the sz, i got it from pcconnection for 1700 w / no tax or ship. I have only owned a hp laptop and used a older gen dell, but the build quality one these sony's are great. Like everyone else says the screen is awsome, as far as battery life i think it should be good for 4 hours on stamina mode and 2-3 on speed mode. Those estimates are with my undervolted processor so Im getting a bit of extra time than maybe from stock performance.

I got the p4 because the price was good an i was going to get another 1gb stick.80gb hd is good enough for me. with an extra 100 you cna get extra 512 and 40gb. everything else is the same i think.

on stamina mode my fans rarly run, speed mode is another story, there is a button which slows down the fan noise by decreasing its rpm but personally it doesnt bother me.

No you need to make your own or order them from Sony for $20.

^ odd, i wonder why they do that. It would only cost like 1$ to make cds.
