N5010 Cooling?

I have a N5010 and I was wondering if anyone here has taken apart the N5010 to add more CPU Cooling Gel between the CPU and the Heat sink. If so has this helped to keep the laptop cooler?

Also I was wonder if any one has done other things to keep this "laptop" cooler?

I personally put a fan next to the laptop at 45 degrees to dissipate more heat.

Also does anyone have instructions or pictures on how to get to the CPU? ( I know where it is and I have tried to get to it but I stopped because I did not want to break anything. And I didnt know If i was approaching it the right way!)

Thanks in advance for the help!

Unfourtantely I'm unable to assist you in the breakdown of your notebook. However, addding something like Artic Silver between the proc and heat sink will help with the excess heat. Most manufactures use a common generic compound when building out a new computer. Though this might be fine for most applications, over time this paste will breakdown and not provide adequate protection. After about of year of service, I will breakdown my own notebooks and reapply Artic Silver.

Hope this helps.

Irishrover - I am not saying that my notebook broke but I am asking if anyone has directions on how to take apart the N5010 so that I can get to the Processor to apply the cooling gel between the CPU and the heat sink.

But thanks for the reply.

So if any one knows how to take apart the N5010 it would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!

Same problem....causing a lot of Freezeups on my N5010.
SO....I bought a new fan from Ebay.
installed it...didn't even change hotsink....
still runs hot...but no more freezeups.
The CPU is under the fan-heatsink.
you have to remove the fan and heatsink to get to the CPU.
If you're in California.....strongly recommend PC Club.
also get Speed Fan 4.29...free download

Thanks for the SpeedFan information I am going to download that and check it out.

I was thinking about just getting a PacificBreeze Aspire external cooling fan. Many people have tried it and they say that has helped allot with the cooling.

Actually I live in NY so there is no PC club locations here.

My computer does not freeze up but it just runs hot. And if I can get the temperature down .,..that will prevent my computer from freezing in the future. (knock on wood)

Thanks for the help!

CPU is under the fan and heatsink unit. My N5010 was freezing up. I bought a new fan on Ebay....had it installed by a technician.........fan $25, install $49. Fixed!
No more freezes. It runs hot, but at least doesn't freeze up. Also...get one of the heat dissipating stands for the notebook to sit on.
