Bf2142

Waiting in anticipation for the upcoming release on the 17th, I just preordered Battlefield 2142 and I was just wondering if any 7900 series owners have played the beta or demo yet and if so how was the performance in the game? What resolutions were you able to achieve under what levels of quality? I have seen screenies and some streams, but how is the gameplay for real???

I dig BF2 and after reading about 2142 a bit, and from my love of the original Transformers and Robotech, I dont think BF2 will be getting played much anymore... hee hee... TITAN MODE! MUAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!!

Anyway's I already registered my veteran status and name, and if you preorder and do the same, EA will give you a FREE RANK! Not bad IMO. Well hope to see you online and If I plant one between your eyes, no hard feelings...

cheers,
whack

I played the Beta and over all I liked what I saw, I trust they will have worked out the bugs by release date.

Overall play is same as BF2, with a commander and Squads play a more important role.

One thing I missed was the Artillery lol but commanders can launch EMP bombs that disable enemy vehicles.

The Soldiers Kits are better with nice upgrades, and one great improvement is a Field Upgrade available to the entire Squad during battle.

Oh yeah, I pre ordered the game the day after the Beta expired.

I am NOT getting it.

Instead I'm anticipating the Relase of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars by ID. http://www.enemyterritory.com/ Oh and what got best out of E3? Not 2142 but Quakes Wars, I never liked EA, and I just needed a reason to jump ship for the past year with the Drought on Decent GAmes. This is my Moment to jump ship! WoW after watching the Movie 1 Trainer on Titan and how the System works, all I can say is that this is going to suck. I mean do they actually think that the majority of people play their games can handle following instructions like this? I mean have they seen how dumb people are in BF2? playing with noobs or having a noob on your team is going to be even worst in this game then Standard BF2.All I see happening is alot of little kids and children going "wow this game is really cool" and then picking it up and then just getting lost about it all. It's confusing just watching the movie once, I had to watch it a second time just to develop some form of tactics.

E1705
7900GS
1gig RAM
60gig 7200rpm Hitachi HD
17" WXGA+ Screen
T2500 2.0ghz Core Duo

The game is identical to BF2, they did nothing to rebuild the core game engine or fix the problems from previous games (the Teammate showing Red bug is still alive and well - never to be fixed).

The biggest upset is that BF2142 Beta1 was working pretty well, then they came out with Beta2 which turned everything on and it became a piece of crap. Only EA can release an update that makes their games increasingly worse and worse - just like C&C Generals Zero Hour.

They need to desperately need to use that superior FarCry engine they just got when they purchased Crytek, because using the same dry game engine from the beginning of the Battlefield franchise is inexcusable.

Why pay for the "same game" over and over?

And another poster is correct, after trialing the Quake Wars game, it was far superior in just an Alpha test at the gaming shows than BF2142 was in Beta2 - RTM status.

EA/DICE closed the beta with a faulty product and gave themselves just enough time for manufacturing, shipping, and release.

EA was supposed to allow next gen consoles to play online with PC players, but since there will have to be a ton of patching done over time again - the 2 versions will become seperated.

Other than that... turn up all the details and don't get all 32/48/64 people within close proximity of you... or else the server crashes.

Dude i totally agree with you, I also played BF2 and BF2142, and i would agree with you. Their are so many problems with BF2 that it aint funny and with their lack of ACTUALLY UTILIZING DUAL CORE pisses me off, i thought EA would at least do some tweaking of the engine so they can fully utilize with dual core but my hopes were destroyed; the gameplay is totally out of whacked since 1.3 patch came out. I have also played BF2142 beta and i do have to admit that this game actually uses utilized with dual core but the gameplay is even worse compared to BF2. To me, EA has lost a customer; i loved Battlefield 1942 and Vietnam but they totally screwed the BF line with BF2 and with BF 2142 coming out is just another piss poor opportunity to gain more money in their pockets. I have to say this, EA = Electronic Assholes

Here's the deal, Single player i can run everything on high and run a 1600x1200 resolution which runs perfectly smooth. But for multiplayer its sucks so bad that i have to resort to the lowest settings every, i can put some settings on medium but thats about it.

I have to saw your lucky, i was going to buy 2 gigs of G.Skill ram but i decided to wait till the prices were going to lower, but i was deadfully wrong about doing that and know i regret of not buying 2 gigs of ram back in late july.

The problem with BF2 is that, you probably know already, is that if you dont have enough RAM then it pages to ur HDD and makes it dreadfully slow. Also their is so much shit that BF2 does when u play online that offline; the process that run at the same time are Punkbuster, frequent recordings to ur account, and all other BS shit it needs to do.

I got a very good system but EA doesnt want to go and utilize with dual core, so i say **** EA and their BS ways, i uninstalled that bitch 2 weeks ago and i have never been happier
