Desperate for modem driver ... help !

hi everyone,

i've just got my NEC laptop (lavie rx lr700/8e). Unfortunately, the model can be found only in japan. the driver cd doesn't include the modem driver.

type : modem controller
chip : intel 82801dbm (ich4m)
manufacturer : intel corp.

i've searched it in the japan nec website, but still can't find it ( i'm realizing that this is the risk when you buy a laptop with no good support ).

i'm still trying to contact the nec japanese support center.

if you have any info, links or the driver file, please inform me. i really need.

Try this site;

they tend to have almost everything, just look carefully at what OS the driver is for. You will need to create a user account, but they are free and only take a few minutes; you will also wanna find out the manufacturer of the modem and the model as this will help you find the correct driver on this site if its not listed under the laptop manufacturer's name.

It could very well be the case that going to the motherboard manufacturers website for your system could illicit good results as well. Sometimes it is better to go straight to them especially when you see references to things like "Intel" in the hardware name. That is many times an integrated component on the mainboard and the motherboard driver may get it up and running for you!
