Windows Vista gpus and notebooks.

Considering the 250-300w power requirements of normal directx10 gpus, how long do you think it'll be before laptop users receive directx10 gpus?

Or would we just receive current gpus with directx10 tacked on them?

I've asked this before, but I don't believe I've made a post like this...

Well, apparently these GPUs are supposed to range from 130W to 300W[1]. Therefore, seeing as how the 7900GTX is rated at 120W, at least the lower spec DX10 GPUs should be showing up in laptops rather easily.

quite right, i have not seen an ac adapter with a 130w output yet, and think it would be a chore for the battery to keep up

From what i remember one of the benefits of the 7x00 series over the 6x00 series gpu's was that the power usage was much lower. I doubt nvidia is goign to start making a gpu that has a much higher power demand just because it's much better in performance.
Just a thought.

Yes, I know. I was implying an equivalent miniaturization process.

new power brick will come out that support 200w. that should do fine for g80 and watever ati release (i have idea what they did with the mobility x1900) since there are brick out there that say they can handle sli 7900gtx power for g80 wont be a problem its more of a size problem. pics show that the g80 is bigger then x1900xtx which is already huge but thats for desktop.

should be coming around jan since g80 suppose to release nov according to rumours from last week (most likely since pics are released on some sites). im getting on as soon as dell makes a xps with one because they are suppose to be much better (it will be like going from fx5900 to 6800ultra)
