Just wondering since I am close to biting the bullet here and getting one.

Will I be able to install a Core-2-Duo cpu in the future?
What about video card upgading?
I know the memory is capped out at 2GB.

Processor wont be upgradeable, as they are soldered to the board. Current machines are all Core2Duo (peryn I think).
Video cards are not user upgradeable..not really upgradeable at all, what you buy is what you get.
As far as memory goes, your cap is 4 gigs, not 2 this can be any ram aslong as it first the slot (as far as I know).

Harddrive is upgradeable, much easier to do in the macbook in comparison to the macbook pro.

Fellas...this post is almost 2 years old.....yikes!!!
I'm much wiser n hip to the MBP as I have one for over year now.

Actually I'm thinking about upgrading and biting on a new MBP with 17" LCD/ Hi-Res.

It's really kind of sad that the MBPs from two years ago still don't have user replaceable HDDs! Apple was smart enough to do it with the MBs, so I don't understand what's keeping them from giving the MBPs the same treatment.

What is preventing you from replacing the HD? Admittedly mine is not two years old, but I am about to order a new HD for it in fact, I can't imagine that ones slightly older would have to much different.

The design was almost the exact same, it is just that most people are wary about removing a bunch of screws and their topcase just to replace the hard drive.

I'm doing the hard drive in my new 17" MBP tonight. SuperDuper is doing it's thing right now.
