i cant begin to tell you people how much i loathe dell right now. Heres my problem. I start up my m1210, and i soon after get a "generic host process for win32 services" error. i hit ok, and my windows style goes away, and it eventually comes back. After this, MY LAPTOP DOESNT RECOGNIZE MY AUDIO DEVICE. This is the fourth damn time this has happened, and ive just given up each time and did a clean install each time, but this time i have WAY to much to even possibly backup. everything works up until i get the "generic host process for win32 services" error, then everything goes to hell. how can i fix this.
EDIT: the sound works, i was able to start winamp before the error came up and it saw my sigmatel audio, but after the error nothing shows up. The normal sounds work ex: bootup and shutdown, the little notice noises in windows.

ive seemed to somehow fix the problem. i got the mediadirrect file, R121517 (sorry, didnt save link), did the repair function, and after searching relentlessly, found this site. http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/index...pic=4917&st=15
i followed the suggestion in the post telling you to go into the regedit and change some values and whatnot, and it seems fixed hopefully, been on for 10 minutes about without the error, it usually pops up within the first minute of bootup.
