I have been thinking about this recently. My two main specs when getting my last laptop was weight (1) and batterylife (2). I ended up with a 2.8lbs lappy that gets about 9 hour battery life with the 9 cell battery.
What if a laptop maker specifically makes a line that is ment to be ultraportable (not in the sence of not having a useable keyboard). I have no interest in performace with my laptop, as long as it has wifi and can run MS Office i am happy, for games etc that is why i have a desktop.
So i would say the specs would be about an 800 Mhz ULV (Ultra Low Voltage) CPU, between 512 - 1024 mb RAM, and a 40 gig 4200RPM HDD. Integrated graphics of course, and either a 12.1 or 13.3 inch screen. No optical drive, and dont really need a monitor out port either.
What do you guys think? And hopefully the weight under 3 lbs. Would you change my specs, and do somthing different?
What CPU would they base it off of? The PIII (much like the P-M is?) or somthing else? Possibly a Via processor?
BTW i am not looking to *purchase* this laptop, just a "what if" thread.
