Hi All,
I am about to purchase either a Inspiron 9400 or an E1705..I was wondering when I wipe the drive an re-install Win XP PRO w/SP2 slipstreamed am I going to have an issues with the SATA drive being detected by windows set-up or am I going to have to use the f6 option and load other drivers ??

Also I was wondering if I can take my 2 GIGS of DDR2-533 that is currently installed in my Inspiron 9300 and move it to my new machine 9400 or E1705 or am I better off just buying (2) GIGS of DDR-667..how much of a performance hit will I see by using the 533 ram ???

When I did a fresh install of MCE 2005, didn't have any problems. No F6 to load a driver needed.

You can install the 9300 memory in the 9400/E1705, but the CPU will have to downshift from 667 to 533 to talk to the memory. I don't know what performance hit that'll create, but it will slow things down a bit.

I read somewhere that these laptops use an SATA/IDE bridge so the hard disk looks to Windows just like a normal IDE drive.
