For those of you who have the System Recovery DVD manufactured by HP, can you list the part number of the disc and the corresponding notebook model that it's used for?

430619-001 for DV2000T w/ Windows XP Home, C2D T5600, Nvidia Geforce Go 2700, 512MB DDR2 SDRAM, HP IMPRINT Finish + Microphone + Webcam, 60 GB 5400 RPM SATA Hard Drive, LightScribe Super Multi 8X DVD+/-RW w/Double Layer, Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network w/Bluetooth

430549-001 is the number on the disk. It's labeled as System Recovery DVD Microsoft XP Home Edition Service Pack 2.

HP PartSurfer

On most models you should be able to get a listing of the part numbers? via the above link... Note that it takes about 2 months? after a new model is released for everything to show sometimes.

If HP sent you the wrong one, just call them up... Have the correct part number , your model number handy so you and the rep are looking at the same part number.

WeAreNotAlone - thanks for the partsurfer link. I didn't know that existed.

Well, I know the part number of the DVD that I'm supposed to get, but I'm still wondering what system that the 430549-001 DVD goes with. I couldn't find that in the partsurfer. oh well, if anyone can figure it out, that would be nice.

Since that part number is not showing up on partsurfer I have no idea. Best guess is it may be for a dv9000t /one of the "newer" models as it takes a while it seems for things to get added to the Partsurfer database.

i was sent a new disk and it's the same one! I think 430549-001 is the part number of the disk, and 430619-001 is the part number of the kit.

so, now I have a real problem. The System Recovery DVD for my laptop model does not work! When I boot off of the DVD, it gives me the error: "These PC Recovery disks do not support this PC model. Press any key to continue". Pressing a key just reboots and starts the process all over again.

Does anyone know what the System Recovery software is keying off to determine the PC model?

I'm wondering if it's something that I've done, cuz' since i got the computer, i've reformatted, created a fourth hard drive partition, and reinstalled with XP pro (originally was XP home).

HP dv8000t, w 7400 gpu (April-2006 production date)

HP_OS_RESTORE---XP PRO-406058-001

HP_OS_RESTORE-XP Home-406057-001

The "title" of the above is "Operating System CD"
MS XP Pro (or home) SP2

These re-install the OS only. No bloatware. Installed smooth as silk.

I think the above are NOT PC RECOVERY DISC's... so they may indeed work correctly in a multi-boot set-up...

I don't think the "PC RECOVERY" disc /app is smart enough to deal with the multiple OS install...

PS: Huchris.... I'd try backing up those partitions, then deleting them... if the install discs are like the QuickPlay 2.0 installer it isn't smart enough to deal with multiple partitions and multiple installs. May be wrong on that, but this is an OEM version of windows...
