I need some help with my wireless connection, im living at bording school right now and the schools router is about 60ft from my room and its getting crappy connection, so i need some type of range booster for my laptop is there such a thing? i know that they got boosters for the router but i cant touch that because thats the schools, so someone out there with a lot of knowledge help me out please, oh yeah i was wondering how can you transfer music and movies from my friends computer to my hd? dont flame the newbie please.

60ft inside the dorm is quite a way considering all the interferences floating around - if u r not using an external wifi card/dongle then i would recommend looking into it, might boost the signal a little bit

cable direct? via an intermediate medium (usb stick, usb external drive ...)? set up a friendly network using ur own router if u want using wireless transport?

build yourself a cantenna (look it up). this should solve your connectivity problem and is quite cheap.
