Laptop is fast....nuff said.

FYI: in case you don't know...

The air intakes are on the bottom (AFAIK), and you don't want to sit the computer on carpet, a bed, or anything that's going to block the intakes very long.

(Really you don't want it powered up at all while sitting on carpet anytime the fan is running, not good to suck up carpet fibers into the fan..)

I think it's "stupid" to have the intakes of the bottom of a machine... sucks in all the dust, dirt, hair, etc, plus is easily blocked.... Got to watch blocking the intakes with your pants leg... I'd design with a cooling intake on the side, the exhaust on the other side...pulling air past the hard drives, other componets... Or maybe sucking air in along the front, exhausting it out the rear... , Or maybe a side intake, rear exhaust... Or maybe a top intake near the display panel, rear exhaust... Regardless having the intakes on the bottom of a machine is asking for trouble.

Note the above comments are NOT directed towards the dv9000t directly, but towards all laptops... Sort of hard to use it on your "lap" while the cooling intakes are blocked by your leg.

Yeah this is true. I know on all the 17 inch laptops that I had from HP the fans were always an issue. This only has 1. and its near the video card side of the laptop. Even its not a video card I dont know what eles to call it. I think that this laptop is allot better then my old one.

dv9035nr = dv9000t

Best place to buy is www.Costco.com , due to their 6 month (180 day) NO Hassle, NO need to box it back up, Just return to ANY Costco store and get ALL your money back return window.

http://www.costco.com/CTO/HPLanding....opnav=&browse=

Buying thru HP directly and you get 21-days

PS: A good option to pick that the above 9035 does not have is the:

17.0" WSXGA+ BrightView Widescreen (1680x1050) [add $42.00]

And if it was me I'd go with a 7,200 rpm drive... and consider buying a external hard drive to back-up data to.

Apricorn Firewire/USB 2.0 Enclosure for 3.5-Inch Hard Drive ( EZ-BUS-DTC-KIT )
http://www.amazon.com/Apricorn-Firew...9?ie=UTF8&s=pc

In addtion with the CTO machines (Custom to Order) you can order it with the system back-up disc (OS re-install disc, which btw installs smooth as silk)

CTO machines also have more "current" hardware, pre-built machines sitting around for a while sometimes... CTO machines getting all the latest hardware revisions.

I currently have about $1500 USC to spend on this notebook. I noticed that BestBuy is offering the same system that JDtheman referred to in his photos. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1158317339247 BTW - I currently have a Western Digital 300GB External Hard Drive that I will be using with my new notebook. Thanks for the information, I will give Costco some serious consideration.

really nice pics ben. I hope that you have good luck with yours.

Further more I wish I would have gotten the chance to do some custom items my self. I wish I would have gotten the t7200 processor and a 7200rpm hard drive but thats about it. Other then that this laptop is great... I even watched tv last night.

Yes this is a Best Buy laptop. It was an even exchange for my old one and i really did not have the chance to customize it.

Another thing that suprized me NO DEAD PIXELS!!!!

Hey JDtheman, how do you like your dv9035nr that you purchased at Bestbuy? I may purchase the same one this weekend. I'm hoping the system goes on sale in the next three weeks. I have a friend that's providing me intelligence information on the possible sale dates. Hopefully, the system will drop another $150.00 before I purchase it.

So far so good man. I play CS source and i get 80 - 120 fps steady. That is twice as fast as my old zd8000.

What's weight and battery life like?
Thanks for the information. It appears that Bestbuy is getting ready to place the dv9035nr on sale. The price is going to drop about $150-$200. I will probably purchase the notebook on Sunday. I'm waiting for approx. $1,000 USC to be credited back to my account. It's the remainder of my NOTEBOOK money.

Hi Buddies,

i am looking for the same laptop. At bestbuy it is now for 1350 bugs... but i am not sure if i customize ist to a higher resolution and more memory for the graphic cards...

i have a p4 3600Ht at home and i want to replace it with a laptop and i need a gamer laptop...farcry, halflife2, ghost recon and all the stuff...

what is necessary and not...what you think??? is it better to have this wsxga+ or wxga+, because this screens áre sharp at the highest resolution...

i am not sure to buy a cto or the bestbuy offer....

help!!
if i wanna a cto from costo.com...how long it takes...because i leave the states at 28. oct... is it possible to pick it up at a shop?
the battery life is average since it is a desktop replacement and a 17 in screen. The dual harddrives and graphics card dont help battery all that much. I say about 2.5 hours from my own experience. Again it varies depending on what you are doing. The best thing I think this laptop can do is maintain the GPU under 76C and only has 1 fan ! This is not a portable laptop although it is really thin. Weighs about 8 pounds and is not designed to be light. Overall it is a great laptop. I really apreciate dual hardrives because i can put linux partition on the other one and not take space off the first hd that has windows. 5400 rpm is not bad either trust me, I can load any game as fast as my 7200rms SATA harddrive.
