Costco CTO comes DIRECT from the HP factory in CHINA... Ordered mine April 3-2006, and an ETA to ship the 12th... Was shipped from China the 7th on Friday, picked up a @3.54pm AFTER the Fed-EX cut off time? and arrived on MONDAY the 10th by 8:30am. Arrived two days before it was supposed to ship. YMMV. .

I definetly want to take the WSXGA+, but i am not if i should take the Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz or the AMD 64-X2 2.0Ghz, because the AMD comes only with a 256MB grafphics card. With the Core2Duo i can choose a 512MB graphics, but i am nt sure if this is necesssary...ok..i want to play all games...but what do i need? is this graphic card replaceable?

No this graphics card is not replaceable. I research this myself but still decided to go with it because it can run everything i throw at it. Im currently playing Company of Heroes and DOD Source and it plays them at highest resolution 1440 * 900 fine. Dont go for 512 though its a waste of money because its not nessesary to run most games today. The card is powerful but not the best so it wont even use the whole 512mb of ram. Its a great laptop and yours is a leap ahead of mine (1.66 2mb l2 cache vs your 2.0 4mb l2 chache so youll be fine! GO DV9000T

why it makes no sense to take the 512MB ram graphics card? i thought maybe it is better for the future? this will laptop will last longer and ready for the games next year and more...or am i wrong?

The core duo 2 cpu's will outrun a regular single core cpu so I'd say this machine would be faster.

(Another consideration is PRICE... how does the models you're talking about compare in PRICE to the Hp talked about in this thread?)

TIP: When asking about this of that model, post a link to spec's on that model...
One last thing... On the VGNAR190G, VGNAR290G .... Since this is the HP side of the board.... so not many people are even going to know those models or be able to offer advice.

If it was me I'd print out the specs and PRICES of the above, and then compare side by side.

Core 2 Duo is "the" cpu... it smokes everything else on the market right now... Think of your current machine with (2) cores.....

I think it's "stupid" to have the intakes of the bottom of a machine... sucks in all the dust, dirt, hair, etc, plus is easily blocked.... Got to watch blocking the intakes with your pants leg... I'd design with a cooling intake on the side, the exhaust on the other side...pulling air past the hard drives, other componets... Or maybe sucking air in along the front, exhausting it out the rear... , Or maybe a side intake, rear exhaust... Or maybe a top intake near the display panel, rear exhaust... Regardless having the intakes on the bottom of a machine is asking for trouble.

Note the above comments are NOT directed towards the dv9000t directly, but towards all laptops... Sort of hard to use it on your "lap" while the cooling intakes are blocked by your leg.
I agree 100%
How many ad's do you see where they have it on their laps or on a bed or sofa?
STUPID!
Maybe the companies like that, because they know your gonna burn it up and have to buy a new one again.

Oh yes, that is one heck of a notebook! I like it!

yeah they were on sale about 2 weeks ago. i picked one up when i saw that price...1500 is still pretty cheap considering the bundle you get with the system. Trust me im a frequent gamer this system is a beast. Dont listen to those stupid people who say you need to spend 2k or more on a performance laptop for gaming this baby handles everything i throw at it. It faster than my 6800 GS pc. 2 gb and dual core you cant beat it.

all more memory does it lets you store more textures....other than that it does not contribute to speeds. Most games run fine with 256mb..(thats why even the 1800 7800s and 1900 7900 still come with 256 megs of ram. it is a waste and its like getting 2gb of memory to run a game like diablo 2...get it now? the gpu is more important than memory.

I was unlucky not to order a dv9035nr at bestbuy at their sale price of $1350. when i decided to order, i was too late cause it was back at $1500 again. someone mentioned that costco is offering the same model. I checked it out immediately but what they are selling is dv9000t. the specs is almost the same as dv9035nr except that they did not mention anything about the tv tuner... can you help me about that WeAreNotAlone?

The tv tuner is an option,... it's listed under the options on the HP Costco CTO page (Custom to Order):

www.costco.com http://www.costco.com/CTO/HPLanding....opnav=&browse=

HP ExpressCard Analog TV Tuner w/remote control [add $126.00]

A BETTER option may be to look around for a HDTV tuner... Last time I checked the HP tuner was only SDTV, not HDTV...

http://www.copperbox.com/lite/popinf...ir-usb-hdtv-gt

Supports timeshifting and recording of: HDTV, SDTV, analog TV (record only), over-the-air broadcast HDTV, and QAM digital cable (unencrypted). HDTV is recorded at full resolution of the broadcast! Easy to use software and included IR remote control for ultimate PC and TV convergence!

Nov 2011 - My HP DV9035NR laptop has finally died, at only 5 years old.

First, the internal fan (only has one) started making loud noise. I sent it to HP for repairs which cost me $300 and 10 days without the laptop. That was only 1 year ago.

This week, the integrated (built into the motherboard) video adapter died. The laptop screen started having pixels randomly appear all over the screen, making it very difficult to see the screen. It only got worse, when moving the mouse. Eventually, the system blue-screened (BSOD - blue screen of death) with an Nvidia error regarding driver NVLDDMKM.SYS and STOP code 0x00000116.

Given these issues and costs, I will not be buying an HP laptop ever again. In my opinion and experience, Dell is the leader in computers (desktop / laptop) while HP is the leader in printers.

Signed,

Dismayed with HP

Starting having issue after 4 years is not a bad deal, and dead after 5 years is a pretty good. This model's fan costs around $80 outside HP, let's say that HP wants $100 for it, $200 labor is not so much out of whack, albeit expensive.

And unless you have Dell extra insurance, you would be posting in the Dell Section as how bad they can be, how long you would have to wait for repair or replacement laugh4.gif

During the years of ownership, how often you take the machine apart, cleaning it up and performing normal service such as applying new thermal paste?

cheers ...
