I'm not really one to answer the question-- instead, thanks to everyone that posted. Once my 5550 does come in, I'll give my two cents though.

Waited in Phase 3 for a week, and after calling them to see what was going on (got the generic answer back, "due to the large number of orders, we're currently backed up"), my order jumped to Phase 5-- and was in Phase 10 three days later. Should arrive next Tuesday (10/17)... I hate waiting D:

SOOO many issues

I've just received my laptop on October 10th, thats less than a week and already it has been breaking down. I am so upset, not only has it been breaking down on its own, its not even turning on.... I'm about to get a refund

Were you able to get them to waive the 15% RSF? I wanted to get a refund, but they were able to convince me to send it in for repair. I'm probably in a long line of suckers on this one. My experience with this company has been dreadfull from the beginning... Just today I opened my credit card bill for the POS system that is sitting at the AW Service Depot in BFE, and to my amusement they DOUBLE billed me! What a great outfit!

yea they somewhat convinced me to send it in.. that 15% thing reallli killed me.. if the problem goes on when i get it back imma curse up a storm...

GOsh I am soo FUSTRATED WITH THIS... my brother's m5550 is working fine but mine however had to break down within a week of receiving it..(I got it on the 10th... which was a week delayed and it starts malfunction on the 13th... ) this is ridiculuos!! even my sister's Toshiba Satellite A105, which was onli 350 has been working PERFECTLY with an Intel(R) Celeron (R) M processor 1.70GHz and a memory of 704mb.... like COME ON! I thought that alienware laptops were suppose to be able to handle any thing that is dished at it......... very unhappy

Your machine doesnt turn on anymore Swtxmelody? Sorry to hear about that... hopefully AW will resolve your issue quick and to your satisfaction!

Experienced my first random shutdown last night while i was on this forum and the lappy was on a cooler. Bummer. The thing was just barely warm. Will continue to monitor. If it happens again i may update to the 1.03W bios. Mine shipped last week with 1.02.
