its just a visual key to know your window is MAXIMIZED..

I ran 5728 for a few days... I couldn't get my wife and kids of my system due to the Mahjong Titans game so I went back to MCE...

terrible isnt it!!!!!

I must be missing something obvious, but where is the option for hardware profiles? In XP, you used to get 2 profiles when using a dock: docked and undocked. You could enable and disable hardware by going into the device manager and selecting "use this device in all profiles" or "do not use this device in the current profile", etc. I can't find this option anywhere in RC2.

I like to have my wireless enabled when I'm undocked, but have it disabled with I dock so I can use the GigE interface instead.

Anyone plays WOW ok? I tried running and all i see is artifacts everywhere. Tried another set of nvidia drivers and still the same.
I'musing the M90 with the quadro fx2500

Full of artifacts especially for dialogues and inventory in Oblivion on Vista but no artifacts on XP running from the same disk.

Also M90.

I was using rc1 on my 9300 and everything was working fine but a few bluescreens here and there.
I upgraded to rc2, and while it looks to be a bit more stable, the mini jack doesn't work any more. I tried reinstalling the drivers, but it didn't help.
A friend of mine who has the same model has the same problem but to my surprise i can't find any post of people having the same problem on the forum, it looks like it works for everyone.
Any ideas?

EDIT: Found a solution, might be common knowledge but I'll post it for later reference. Had to remove the drivers in the device manager and run the installer in win xp compatibility mode as administrator. Worked fine after that.

Have any of you guys tried the Windows Search feature on Vista? What I am interested in specifically is if Vista will search offline Outlook .pst archives. Anybody tried this? Or is Windows Search in Vista the same kind of half-@ssed joke as "Windows Desktop Search"?

Has anyone gotten BF2142 working correctly yet? I managed to start the game but I get major artifacts all over the place, especially in menus. When I get in the game, the artifacts aren't as bad but are still there. My friend got bf2142 to work fine on his vista computer, so I'm assuming it's a driver issue...Please help.

One question I do have is about Aereo. I'm still using this on my dad's 9400 with integrated Intel Graphics and when I maximize a window the titlebar changes to flat black, it looses its transparency and color, the taskbar also looses its transparency. Is this likely caused by some driver problem or is this how Aereo works?

I had the same problem and am using a temporary solution. If you right-click anywhere on the desktop, -> Personalize, -> Window Color and Appearance, then bump up the Color intensity until you can read the title bar contents, you've solved your problem. If you aren't using the Aero interface, you shouldn't have this issue at all anyway (I wouldn't imagine).

Same here with WOW. I think it's really a driver issue, since in XP everything is fine. Read somewhere that it might lower the gpu clock and so the artifacts.

I, too, am getting artifacts everywhere in RC2 - BF2, 3DMark 2005, virtually anything DX9-based. BF2 is particularly annoying. The menus are unreadable due to constant jumping/flashing/artifacts on the display. This is with the 96.77 drivers that came with RC2.

I managed to splice-in the nVidia Control Panel from the 96.33 drivers and have played with the various image quality controls to no avail. Chock this one up to buggy nVidia drivers and perhaps a bug in DX9 support as well.

Fortunately, I *can* play the maps in BF2 once they're loaded. Takes some guessing with the mouse to get the right menu selections, but then the game play is artifact free, if a bit sluggish (might also be due to me cranking up the bots to 24-32 and playing 64-player maps ).

C'mon, nVidia, it's almost RTM time - release something usable!

I'm running it and it seems kinda sluggish, but I think my 1.6 Pentium M is holding it back alot. I have 1.25gb of ram now so its not my ram. Can I install XP as well?

. dual boot XP-Vista is always a good idea - 22gb for Vista is more than enough for the beta version
. u can call many apps direct from xp partition to run whne u r under vista as well
. vista is not so much ram.cpu.hdd related as much as gpu

cheers ...

Oh. How do I do a dual boot? I don't know how

Anyone got a link to download the 32bit of Vista RC2? I dowloaded the 64bit edition and forgot to setup a download of the 32bit version. Now MS's links are broken.

I d/led the 64bit version to install it into my C2D equiped 9400 wich should be in by friday but quickly realised I should've gone with the 32 bit version instead for program compatibility's sake.

Anyone with an M90 having issues with the sound drivers?

For those of you that have sound working, which driver are you using? The XP one from Dell or the default Vista one from Microsoft?

9300 Headphone Jack FIX

Hi All,

If you are having troubles with the headphone jack not working just reinstall the Sigmatel drivers from here.

http://ftp.us.dell.com/audio/R99254.EXE

Worked for me. Strangely I did not have this problem with RC1?!

Cheers

I'm having a strange issue with RC1 after installing the dell drivers. After I Sleep and come back from Sleep the sound device fails and I need to uninstall and reboot. If I shutdown and restart normally rather than sleep I don't get that problem, but sleep is one of my favorite features!!
Thats why you need to be running RC2...RC1 is OLD and contains a lot of BUGS...

But I only downloaded the 64bit version! Will I be stuck in non-compatible 64bit land with the evil bug monsters? Eitherway I can't wait to install it and play around with a 64bit OS for the first time once my lappy FINALLY GETS HERE!!

I've asked in a couple of threads and nobody seems to be able to answer if there is a way to download 32bit RC2 from anywhere. Can sobody be so nice to mail me a copy? I can send some $ through western union or something to cover mailing costs.
