WOOHOO!!! Lancorp you are DA MAN!!! Now I got two goodies in the mail for me. I'm getting that feeling I used to get when I was but a young boy and I had my dad place orders for legos from the catalog and then started counting the days when the mailman was supposed to drop by with my new toy.

The new version of Deamon Tools (4.06) works perfectly with 5744...

Oh and the new nVidia drivers are still crap...best ones I have found to be are the 96.33 ones...available on laptopvideo2go.com

Okay, cheers scott'ay <GRIN>

I am in Canberra and I notice you are in NSW - Hi.

Are you running RC2 on a 9400? I am just about to order one with the $1000 off discount. The only thing I am concerned about is the panel, but it is just wait and see.

Hey...yea not to far from me eh! Im in Nowra...

Yep, Im running RC2 on the 9400...runs sweet!

ANy problems with it just give us a yell!

Hi, thanks, mate

I have been hanging out for the release of the Vista Upgrade Coupons (rumoured to be on the 26th Oct). But am cautious about loosing the $1000 discount, which may not be available at the time the coupons are released. However, I am thinking of just getting the laptop anyway and then purchasing an OEM version of Vista Ultimate sometime next year before the RC2 license runs out.

It's a bummer that the Inspirons don't have a TPM chip though, as I like the idea of security just because it is possible.

totally late response ...
. create another 20-22gigo partition on ur drive
(i use gpartedLiveCDivecd - http://gparted.sourceforge.net/)
(many users just boot up with the xp installation, get as far as partioning and creating new partition and then break off the XP setup process)
. that was it, insert the vistaDVD and just follow the instruction, 30 min max and u have a windows dual boot system

cheers ...

I saw this also - thats a really good deal, just brought a 9400 for a work mate for $2300 from grays online, but now after seeing that price I was kicking myself considering it had 3 years compleate care included.

On a positive note, still running RC2 but have problems with windows update giving me an error. Has any one else come across this????, my copy is activated etc and thought it was my works proxy server but still having the same issue at home through my wireless cable connection.

I tried installing RC-2 5744 and I got an error right after it started: 0x80070241. I did a few searches on the web and couldn't find much, people just saying it's a bad .iso (even thought it was the DVD), and I even tried downloading it from a torrent and still got the same result. It happens right after it begins copying files.

Anyone have an idea as to what the cause could be?

I didnt feel like reading all of it but can someone let me know how it will run on my M170 /w 2.13 proc,2gb ram,7800GTX? Also does anyone know how games work on it like WOW, CS:S, BF2, and COD2?

That definitely sounds like either a bad DVD copy or a bad ISO.

Two things; did you run an MD5 check on the ISO to verify? (32bit MD5 is 83cee5f1642d094670147c5350c57762) Also, did you burn at the lowest speed? These two things saved me a lot of headaches.
