Yes. I've run my m9700 with the SLI cards at 1920 x 1200 with ultra high settings and it ran very well. Usually when you hit ultra high settings, it sets the resolution down to 1024 x 768 or 1280 x 1024 and it runs flawlessly, but I kicked it back up to the top res just to check it out.

The 256 and 512 cards in SLI should perform similarly. The extra onboard memory only comes into play at very high resolutions and settings, so I'm not really sure it'll make that big a difference in current games. SLI halves the load also between two cards, so I'm really not sure the extra memory makes much difference at all.

Oblivion is amazing on the m9700... Here's a screenshot sized down for the web...

that is so friggin awesome! now I can't wait till i get my lappy! This deal just made my day and am sure it has with others. Just hope mine don't get slowed down by the swarm of people buying because of this offer. They said it wouldn't hurt the time much at all but you all know how that goes lol.

Oh this is awesome, now I'm definitely sure which computer I'm getting, I was going to be all sad because I was going to miss that $100 rebate, except I don't know how I'm pulling it off, I can deposit a few checks tomorrow, but I won't get my next check until Wednesday, due to classes I have to cash it Thursday... and try work out a deal with my bank to go pass my monthly spending limit all before this ends...

Hopefully they'll be fine with temporarily upping my amount again, I have a small bank and they did it last time when I wanted to get a guitar because I had the funds available, and I would again

Hey Hammerhead, can Oblivion be at such a high detail using a single GPU and still have playable framerates? I've been a bit scared of installing Oblivion on my m9700, haha.

this is bullcrap man,i had already ordered the dual 256mb to start with... i called alienware just now and cuz my lappy is in phase 9 , the rep said that it wasnt possible to get the 400 $ rebate and she also confirmed that with her supervisor.When i said i wanted to speak to the sup. himself, she said he was busy etc. No other supervisors were available as well.
Im now gonna have to call back soon and see if i can get the rebate $ back in my pockets. Lets see how things turn out. Or i can just cancel the whole f*in order and do it all over again -- which would mean waiting for another 2-3 weeks which is impossible cuz ive already waited for a month.

Sigh, such is life .....

that is insane! but the rep said to me that when they do the rebate stuff it would have to be in an earlier phase cause they have to change stuff around because "supposedly" it would be like a reorder type deal. have no clue, don't make sence. I say if you haven't recieved it yet, that they should honor the rebate.

.. and that my friend is EXACTLY what they did,as i said earlier my lappy is in phase 9 and about to get shipped with the pre-ordered dual 256 mb cards.
So I spent around an hr on the ph with 3-4 reps. The guys at the order change/status dept. didnt know squat , and i even spoke to 2 supervisors - i was abt to give up at that point but i got a brainwave and asked them to transfer me to the billing dept. [ which was kinda stoopid actually but i hung in there. ]

The billing guys didnt know abt the rebate and they forwarded me to the cs Dept. ... there! i was at the wrong dept. after all or all this time i thought i was talking to cs rep. guys .. so this lady puts me on hold for 2-3 min and says i could "upgrade" my card to the sli - 256mb. i went berserk at that point! , - I WENT ON AND ON ABT THE SAME THING telling her that i basically already had the 256x2 sli - and i wanted the 400 $ rebate back as the notebook isnt in my hands as yet.

To make things simpler, since she was a girl i asked her to imagine buying a dress for 3000 $ and then having found out suddenly that it costs 2500 $ out of a promo + it wasnt in her hands as yet. The message hit home, she put me on hold [ like the 10001th time], she then got back to me promising that ill get the 400 $ debited back into my checking account within the next 2-3 days. She asked me to call back 2morr - and gave me her direct no. etc.
I can only say "WOW" -- u 'really' need to have patience with these guys but they get what u want in the end

400 $ - SWEET MAMA!

Patience is crucial. I spent 40 minutes on the phone with the same guy. I don't have a problem waiting if it's going to save me some bucks.

Glad some of you are getting the rebate...only seems fair to me.

btw...I haven't worn a dress for about 10 years, so I doubt that line would have worked one me, but quick thinking!

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!! now they changed it again! now you can get the single 512mb that everyone been wanting and having the dual 256mb at only 160 dollars and the dual 512mb at only 390 dollars. what a chess move that was.

sorry about that then it changed back to free upgrade to dual 256mb and single 256mb for sale. 512mb at 400 what the heck are these people doing. stop jabbing me with that knife god!!!!!! Are they monitoring my posting geesh!

ahhh i hate it when they get changing happy. but it is back as normal now with the free upgrade to dual 256mb cards though. that was nuts. it changed right as i was looking at it too and then back like it refreshed or something twice. that was seriously messed up. maybe a future thing they were working on but accidentaly posted and fixed it.
