Dell Ripped Me Off?

Thread Starter
So I purchased a new E1505 in late July off of Dell's website. When it arrived, it seemed like it was a little sketchy in terms of speed and performance, but I figured it must be a laptop thing.

Anyhow, fast forward a month or so, and I'm in college. I know for a fact i purchased a Core Duo processor, but the sticker on my laptop, as well as the boot screen, shows Intel Centrino. I've noticed a few of my friends who also purchased the Core Duo processor actually show the core duo logo on the laptop as well as the boot screen. Did they rip me off?

Furthermore, despite a reformat, my laptop still runs like crap. It stalls constantly when running simple programs like Limewire, it barely runs the simplest computer game, and freezes when attempting to install certain drivers.

Did I get a lemon?

I don't think you got a lemon, rather Dell probably just made a mistake with your order. The first thing you should've done was check all your components through device manager. This is partially your fault as well. Check the paperwork that came with your computer, it should have all the parts used, and also check your bill to make sure you weren't over charged. There is really not much you can do now since it is past dell's 21 day return policy, but you can try calling them, i doubt they will help you, but who knows. And about your computer running slow, there are many possiblities to why that could be happeneing. It does not necessarily mean the hardware is to blame, i would try formatting again through the windows disc and see how it performs.... In terms of gaming, what graphics card did you get? is it the integrated?

On the Desktop:

Right click "My Computer" > left click "Properties"

What does it say under "Computer:"?

Centrino is not a processor. Centrino is the mobile chipset including the internal wireless. Check to see that you got what you ordered, but if your computer is behaving funky, you probably have some drivers that aren't installed properly.

When you get an Intel CPU, Intel chipset, and Intel Wireless card in your laptop it gets branded with Centrino. Centrino IS NOT a CPU. The sticker at the end of the day doesn't mean diddly squat really. Use CPU Z if you're that concerned.

Just for reference, my e1705 has the "centrino" sticker also. CPU-Z is the best way to confirm the specs.
