Hmm, it seems to be a carbon copy of the Aspire 5110 that I use, as at first glance I can't see any problem with it.

In short: You'll love it. Apart from the ATI Chip, which is just stupid (In the ATI Control Center, Disable the Catalyst A.I and you'll get a much better performance boost) everything is a dream to run. Enjoy your laptop as (IMO) it's a great bargain...

Just got my 5102 delivered today via tigerdirect. $699 after mailing in the rebate. The 5400 RPM Seagate 100GB hard drive compares favorably to the Toshiba 7200RPM drive on my other notebook in HDTune benchmarks, so i wont even switch them over.

Notebook is very cool even under max performence.

Im disappointed in the performence of the x1100 video graphics. It needs a better driver. The ATI site doesnt have drivers for this yet. 3Dmarks05 can barely run the test, so driver support is very primitive at this point.

if ur running mce/xp, go and get/mod the catalyst 7.1 drivers. they are very stable and fastest you will get with the xpress1100...

if ur running vista already, then check the acer ftp in the combo 3000/5100/5110 dir under the DRIVER directory you will see a dir called VISTA the latest catalyst for vista is there///

its probably the best deal in notebooks at the moment... really.

64-bit radeon x1600 with up to 512mb hypermemory is both a bane and boon

considering you can't find a 2gb, 160gb, radeon x1600 notebook with a screen this nice, and all the extras for that price....

its really something special this notebook - seriously.

Hi there,

I buy a 5112WLMi (Turion x2 TL-50, 2x512 DDR2, ATi X1600, 80G HDD).
I need some info.
Everest say the memory runs in single channel mode, but acer say if i have two DDR module its run in dual channel mode. Whats wrong?

Other, the sound. My old asus notebook with an AC97 sound can output 5.1 analog sound. My new acer has an ATi SB450 (realtek alc883) and in the Realtek HD Audio Manager i can set only 2CH Speaker or Headphone output. Is there any solution for this? (tryed the factory and the latest realtek drivers to).

Thanks!
