NW8440 - FireGL V5200 driver installation

Hi to all. The problem is the following:
while trying to install VGA driver, the setup process doesn't recognize the FireGL Video Card. It finds an X1600. Ok the core is the same but I need to install specific FireGL drivers for a particular application.
I tryed with different releases of ATI driver but I can't solve this problem.
Any Ideas

can u try to look into the manual hardware definition to see if a FireGL is being included under ATI?
when it ask for driver, chose manual and then local search, then have disk, it would bring up the whole available database within ur laptop

Thanks for replying.
I forced OS to accept the VGA as a FireGL by a manual installation of the ATI drivers (downloaded from HP website).
The real issue consists of the impossibility of installing specific driver for a particular application (GIS Software).
The Setup process hangs up because it doesn't find FireGL Hardware!!!!!!!!!

cheers

i see,
the issue here is the FIreGL 5200 is being based of the x1600 chip and can be (normally) looked at either as a 5200 or a x1600 via bios setting
normal ati driver would not do the trick - i recommend that u look into patje mod or omega driver

Another issue, probably the cause of the drivers probelm:
using DXDIAG and the HP Performance Tuning Framework I noticed that the model of the laptop the is reported is NC8430 and not NW8440.
Indeed the laptop is an NW8440, I flashed BIOS with the last release but nothing is changed. I'm contacting HP support.

as i understood the NC8430 is a much better board than the NW8840 (meaning u - really - got a better deal?)

I cant' understand your answer....... could you explain better what you think about please?
it would not matter since u require the FireGL5200 gpu for ur apps - calling hp is the next right step

i would have thought the board was common between the 8440 and the 8430.. only difference being the video card bios right?

I will recieve an answer from HP support only tomorrow morning.
I can't understand if there is a mistake in the HD image for Recovery backup or, most probable, in VGA BIOS
