Emachines

Games run pretty damn good. I installed battlefield 1942 / desert combat mod and the maps load fairly quick on this machine even for the slow hd. The fps are above 75+ @ 1024x768 default settings. Unreal tournament 2004 beta demo averages about 35 fps @ 1280x800. I was a little dissapointed with this but it was smooth gameplay, also at default settings. I guess it's in need for some tweaking. I will install some new games/demo's like the farcry Demo 2 maybe tonight and post about it. I decided to keep the laptop and deal with the 1 red pixel, I hardly notice it anymore. I'm overall impressed with the quality of this machine, but i would like to see a bios update soon (this week?) from E-machines.

BTW, More pics soon

hot dayam. Now ifinally know how it looks like. It looks pretty damn cool if i'd say. Better than the small lil icon pic that they have next to it on the inventory list.

I brought mine home today. Its a beauty.

Now I have to decide whether to use the eMachine or my Sager 5680 3.2 ghz HT.

Oh the agony of such choices ...

Warrick, you make me sick. "Oh the agony of such choices" I wish I had the luxury of playing with such toys. I'm still trying to save money for a Sager 8790-S from PC Torque. I guess you can call it ENVY... you lucky A$$...enjoy... >=l

Hey Red fusion, Im in the midst of getting a laptop and was looking at the Emachines (Im buying a laptop purely for gaming and Flight sim on the road)

Two questions;

1. How is the battery life on the Emachines

2. I built this at Ibuypower.com......Do you think the P4 based machine will have a decent battery life also:

Hows this look for a gaming laptop?

Also, if anyone has this similar machine, how long do you think the battery would last?

P.S: If you can (you have it and were going to anyway) Can you install FS2004 (or FS2002) for that matter, and let me know how it runs on your emachines (Res 1600x1200) if possible.

Thanks,

nice questions, I want to know the answers too

Battery Life on a Pentium 4 Laptop usually lasts about 60-90 minutes max. Alienware's laptops last longer because they use much better batteries compared everyone else. For that Battalion computer you are talking about, you will get about 90 minutes maximum...45 minutes if playing an intesive game or DVD. The 6805 should give you 2.5 to 3 hours on battery (light usage like web surfing, word processing, im, etc), but it all depends on what brightness you have it set on, what apps/games you use, etc. If you'll be playing graphics intensive games, expect the battery life to be cut quite a bit.

About 2 and half hours, depending on what you're doing and screen luminosity level.

A bit high on price. You can get it cheaper and the AMD64 platform is more future-proof than the P4.
I'd personally get the M6809 if you really want the DVD-Writer

Purchased the M6805 for $1500.00 and some change (recieved $65.00 dollars best buy cash, and 250 dollars in rebates- bringing cost down to $1200.00 roughly)

Installed BF1942 straight away..followed with a 3dmarks2001se bench....10-11k, little tweaking reached 13k easy and still ran flawless.

I almost purchased the alienware area 51 extreme laptop, but its benchmarks are very similar, so i could not see spending twice the cost.

Overall im really happy with it, had it for some time now with no issues

Laptop gaming at an affordable price, what more can i say?

m6805 bought in-store carries $300 in rebates now. I guess they are clearing they way for the m6810.
