well guys, calm the fcuk down, and listen to BeachBum for once...

I'm in OREGON... average ambient temp in my fraternity room is 60oF

On my 4780, after being on for hours, maybe days, and just finishing up watching a movie (Falling Down, with Michael Douglas). I tried to use my oral thermometer to measure the temp BENEATH the S and D keys, and it was 109F+ (it just went to on to read H).

But i can assure you, the S and D keys, on the surface, feel nothing like 109F+. And don't forget, under the aswd section, there is an unheatsinked SCREAMING BEAST OF A RADEON 9600! and no it never overheats.

The CPU is more around the I O P keys, and is on the bottom of the laptop.. with a heat sink that IS ample.

The palmrest below the windows key is warm, there is a battery in there that is charged.. batteries are warm

Thank you Castlejp, once again. Indeed it is very very hot, i removed the keyboard and touched the metal plate and boy oh boy was it HOT, a minor burn, but nothing life threatening.

Well it seems that the temp is about "normal". Kive, If it's too hot for you "all things considered", then RMA.

Castle - Thanks for the input - I think that is what Kiva wanted. I was hoping that bum would have done this - Oh Well.

You may say it "Time and Time Again"; however, it may or may not be true...

I wish I had a similiar unit so that I could take the readings myself. OOOmmpf... (I won't say what is on my mind" out of kindness)...
Uh huh, well its not exactly hot nor cold, but you will experience the fun of it on your 8790.

I have to agree that the 4780 does not have a heating issue... yes the left pamrest gets warm the keys as well but nothing worth more than a comment... and I live in the desert and have an natural aversion to heat ~... the onlything that does concern me is how hot my cd's get....

I thought the dude said he stuck the thermometer in between the keys, not undernieth... if I had a thermometer I would give some top of ket and wristpad readings...
btw last week it was rainy and chilly which never happens here and my leg was freaking killing me I just lifted up the power thingy and held it againt my knee, and it helped... hehehe

Peeps pleze take a chill pill..........for youselves or the 4760/4780

This is more of personal taste and POSSIBLY a system error on a fellow users machine. Can we get some harmony and unity rolling up in here?

It's Jack Daniels and Coke time y'all

Not casting stones or pointing fingers, just interested in helping a fellow user out. Will find my baby's thermometer and do some temp readings and post what I have found tomorrow night from my 4760.

Increace the Peace

PS: I know, take a look at my avatar and I'm preaching love and harmony and all that other happy horse hockey.

Just DON"T go there.........ok?

Hi,
i did stick between S and D, Not undernieth, when u dont touch any key, u fell warm. that is normal.

My question: is my system is over heat or it is just normal compare to other 4780 owner.
I sent a message to sager yesterday, do not receive response yet.
If they say that it is not normal, then i fell better, they will repare it. If that is normal, i will be so sad, but will be ok.

Thank a lot.
