I seriously want to try this, but I don't want you to be joking and me look like an idiot - so a "how to" would be awesome...
I use a liquid wax and use it sparingly. I get a damp cloth and put a small spot of wax on that, then start applying it to a surface that doesn't have any joints or anything that would catch the wax. As it thins out I wipe the areas like around the touchpad and stuff where wax can collect, dry out and turn white carefully so there isn't too much wax. After it dries, I just buff it off with a clean soft cotton cloth. Believe it or not, cotton diapers work great for this...
I use the wax sparingly to avoid the crust in the joints, and also don't put it on the grips with the rubberized paint. I'm not sure if it would make it look streaky, but I don't want to find out when it's too late.
The wax keeps a thin protective coating on the machine, and makes it easier to clean next time.
I also use an external mouse and a Belkin Nostromo n50 for games so I don't have to touch the laptop much.
