Started a week ago the network jack stopped working. I reinstalled xp and now the network jack can't be found. Then it started randomly rebooting or locking up or shutting off. Then it started all 3 lock LEDs on and no video when trying to power up but the hdd and cdrom spins up. Pulling the cmos battery and power got it going again a few times. Now it just sits there blank screen. I hooked an external monitor up to it also to no avail.

Looks like shes down for the count..

I dissassembled the laptop and found half of the capactitors have begun leaking. Clevo used KVG series caps. These have a high failure rate on motherboards.

I'm going to try and locate some replacement caps and see if I can't bring it back to life.

The bad caps are 2200uF 6.3V KVG 10x20mm - qty 14.
Also there are also 11 - 470uF 35V KVE 10x20mm. It appears 2 of these have begun leaking also.

Now to find someone who stocks 10x20mm ultra low impedance caps and doesn't require buying 200+ of them..

check with badcaps.net. I am getting ready to send them my board. $55 to replace all the kvg caps. Not sure about the kze caps. they can send you the caps if you want to do it yourself.

Yea I sent a request for the replacement caps yesterday. Now just waiting for him to respond.

I searched all the various distributors trying to find caps that would work but noone has any 10x20mm ultra low esr caps in stock or if they do they have minimum buys of 200+.
