Ok guys go nuts free adaptors for beata testers. LOL

Duel Systems is excited to let you know that we will be running a Beta
program for our new product, the DuelAdapter, starting in a few weeks.
The
DuelAdapter permits you to use your existing PCMCIA cards with new
notebooks
that only support the smaller ExpressCard format. We are looking for
participants and are writing to ask if you are interested.

We think that you'll find it interesting and enjoyable to participate
in the
program. It shouldn't take too much time on your part, and you'll
receive
several benefits, in return:

-Early access to product
-Validate product features & specifications
-Provide input to improve product
-Suggest product features & upgrades
-Keep beta unit, at no cost

If you are interested in participating in this program, please complete
the
short on-line application at:

http://www.duel-systems.com/products/adapters.aspx

Please note, we will close the on-line application on October 13, 2006,
so
it's important that you apply early.

We will choose the participants by October 20, 2006 and will notify you
if
you are selected.

Thanks for your consideration - we hope to have you help us ship a
great
product!

Sincerely,

The DuelAdapter Team

put mine in yesterday
*crosses fingers*

I have also applied.

I applied just in case they're wanting individuals with credentials to evaluate too. I don't have particular need for this type product since my D820 has a PCMCIA card and Express Card Slot, but I'm happy to test it out and I have a collection of PCMCIA cards hanging around. Might need to borrow a Soundblaster PC Card though.

The story of my life I have been waiting for this sence I went from my XPS Gen 2 to the M 1710. I kept geting e-Mails from them with delays in the project so I break down and get A D-Dock and sound card then a week later I got the E-Mail. Oh well .... But it will still be nice the D-Dock is huge.

Anyway good luck everyone hope we all get one!

Just thought I would throw this in here.. if you really don't intend on actually TESTING this product, you probably shouldn't apply. These guys are expecting real world info coming back to them to help improve the product, and it would be counterproductive for them to send these to a bunch of people that are just looking for a freebie... Not saying any of you so far are doing this for that reason, just want to try and quell the lurkers and guests here from trying this out just for a free adapter. I am sure they will select a small group to test out the beta product... Another thing to remember is that you will be recieving a BETA unit. This is (more than likely) not the same unit that will eventually be shipping. So if the beta unit is buggy, then you will be stuck with a buggy product. Beta testers dont usually get the final product for free, however we will have first pick when the final product is ready, and perhaps even a nice discount for participating.

Sorry, I dont usually don't take the podium in the forums, but I really want to see a high quality product shipped in the end. Lets all do Methode a favor and give them the feedback they deserve on this little gem.

WOW where did that come from! I just like many others In this forum who have upgraded our laptops who have purchased PCMCIA hardware that we can't use on our newer machines. I did not post this as a freebie for fellow forum members...But as a solution if it was available I would have had no problem purchaseing it and heck if you can get a free product and help out and contribute to technoligy at the same time cool but at the end of the day yes what matters if it was acually a solution! Not weather you got it for free! But hey free is better!

Just my 2 cents on the matter

It wasn't intended as a flame... however this IS beta hardware. Its not going to necessarily going to be a solution yet. It is very possible that is will require lots of troubleshooting and driver updates to even work properly. I just don't really want to see a lot of people jumping on a beta testing program, who really have no intentions on being constructive towards the final product. Its not supposed to be for people to just score a free adapter and run with. Surely you can see my perspective on this. Like I said also, I am not saying anyone in here is doing this. I just want to make it clear to people who have no intentions on actually testing the hardware for the company, that this is not a final product and likely will have compatibility issues on many different levels. Not something that your average user will want to deal with, really...

I just wanted to make this a solid point, for people wondering whether or not they should apply. I can see everyone jumping on here already and complaining that it doesnt work as advertised for thier specific PCMCIA adapters, and dogging Methode for not releasing good hardware... etc...

Maybe the way I came across sounded harsh, I really didn't mean it to. I don't get upset over things like this, I just like people to know what it is they are getting themselves into. I know I have purchased tons of hardware in my life that was 'supposedly' finalized and perfect, just to find out that it wasn't beta tested very thoroughly... Sucks bad when you spend money on something, just to find out it has incompatibilities that should have been sorted out prior to a final release. Makes sense right?

I applied =]

I'm also in though not for my sound card. I have a LaCie firewire 800 PCMCIA card and would love the chance to help this company make a working version of their product to help all of us video guys that don't live in MAC land.
