As some of you know, I just bought a Dell Inspiron 8600 a couple weeks ago. Well, a week or so ago after I bought it, Dell introduced the 9100. We wanted a desktop replacement that was mobile when we needed it to be. The 8600 has a 1.4 Pentium M processor and is 7 pounds and 1.5 inches thick when closed. It cost $1400. Configuring a 9100 with the same specs except a 2.8 Pentium 4 processor with Hyper-Threading technology, 2 inches thick when closed and 9 pounds comes to $50 cheaper. I know I shouldn't be going back on my decision, but I don't know what to do. The Pentium M provides for longer battery life and a lighter notebook, but isn't as powerful - it is only comparable to a 2.2 or 2.4 Mobile Pentium 4 processor. However, the Pentium 4 with HT is a lot more powerful and faster, but the battery life and weight aren't as good. I really don't know what to do - send back the 8600 and get the 9100 or keep the 8600. I need advice, so please post here with feedback. Thanks.
