I can't make the final decision to buy which one, the M90 or M1710? who can give me some advice, thanks!

Its a matter of Design. Performance is +- 3% the same
Do you want colorful lights and a grey Keyboard? -> M1710
Do you want a brushed aluminium LCD Backplate? -> M90

Not that simple Fusel.

M90 = Better video card as it performs as well as the GTX plus it has additional features that will benefit video/graphic editing, rendering, etc.

M90 = Better screen IMO. The semi-glossy screen offers the best glare reduction I have seen. Check out other thread's comparing the two.

M90 = Cheaper! You'll save about $200-300 with the M90.

M1710 = Flashier. If you like the attention, the LEDs and the bright red color will get it for you.

Other than that, both systems are exactly the same.

If I remember correctly the XPS has a brighter screen too. (more nits)

I'd choose the M90!

for the reasons .PoNeH said.

please pay attantion to kind of job U`ll perform on yout lappy. M90 powered by QuadroFX series graphic card (esspecially for CAD works, nice performance in OpenGL software). 1710 I`ve got powered for games with the 7900GTX genuine gamers GPU has a lot of featers for games (works with planty of triangles >>so so, but still ok).

PS:so If U`ll work >>>>M90 if U`d like to take rest with your PC>>>>1710

Also consider how much money you are willing to spend on a nice laptop. Not how much you have, but how much you are willing to pony up. Yes the 1710 is more expensive, the screens are arguable either way and I can't comment on the video card since I know nothing about the Quadro.

The 1710 is a sweet looking laptop IMO, and of course that's one of the reasons I own one!

If the money thing is top priority, I would agree with the others, M90 all the way. If not and you have money to blow then go for the 1710 and enjoy it!

I agree with Poneh..

I didn't like the screen of the m90 at first.. but now it's growing on me.

I'd say some days I like the m90 screen but somedays I like the m1710's...

but I miss my m1710's lights... If I could only have the m90 w/ lights on the vents and sides.. and why don't they make and ALL BLACK laptop... like the thinkpads....that would be nice..

I'd take the M90 with a M1710 truelife panel...like the one I am typing this message on.

I'd take the M1710, only because I'm tired of modding something to become something else. In the end it's better to just have the real thing, Because if you noticed the resell value on the XPS gen 2's > then 9300 modded.

Pretty sure currently M1710 Resell Values are greater then the M90's. Just take a quick glance on how many used M90's are on our For Sale Section compared to M1710's (They Sell like hot cakes, the Outlet Points to this as well) while the M90 is pretty much common.

maybe it's just based on the time it is right now, but i see an equal number of each (m1710 and m90) on the for sale. i also can't tell what you mean from that statement. are you saying the people with m1710's are selling their systems like hotcakes? or is it the m90 users selling? i mean, it coudl go either way in terms of explaining it. people could just not really know about the m90 (i didnt really knwo about them until a friend mentioned them and then i started looking into them) and know the xps brand name better. if the m1710's are indeed for sale a lot more and being sold more, what does that say about the system, that people don't want them? and along with that is, if there are not that many higher spec'ed m90's (i.e. nvidia 2500m card), couldnt that mean that when people buy them, they like them more and are less likely to sell them? or is it the other say around with the m1710s being "hoarded"?

anyway, back to differences, the m90 has a middle click button.

personally, i like my m90 more than my xps2. it could be that the m90 is just so far superior to the xps in terms of the specs and performance. i feel like i can use it more in other places (though it is basically a dtr) without getting strange looks. i wouldn't feel as weird bringing it to lecture, but i would basically never have thought of bring the xps2 to lecture. i rarely used the lights on it either, except at lans, which don't happen all that often.

The 7900GTX has no features that are not also present in the Quadro. The Quadro consequently has exactly identical performance to the 7900GTX in games, but it outperforms it in some professional applications. In my opinion, the M90 is the better value. The absolute only thing the M1710 has going for it is the bling factor.

Ummm....NO.

Price an M90 out to the same spec as my signature, and pay $300 more, before discounts on mine, after discounts on M90.

Spec for Spec, XPS 1710 is cheaper by at least a couple hundred bucks.

You means SM3.0?

Of Course it has SM 3.0 !
Same fps in games as 7900gtx go. and also same 3D-Marks...

The 2500m definately has SM3.0
Now that the 1710 has the 7950GTX option it's the winner between the 2 IMO.
