Anyone with the 9400 A03 BIOS? I want mine back..not A04

I only just got my 9400 about a week ago, and it came with the A03 BIOS.

I flashed the A04 BIOS that was posted on here recently, but I would like to go back to the Official Dell A03 BIOS.
The website only has A02, does anyone here have it that I could please borrow?

Thanks

David

You must be joking. It is all over the place that 03 was never available as an installable version. If you did what you told, why do you want to go back to 03. Is something not working anymore the way it should do ?

I know it isnt available as a Dell installable file.
I just wondered if anyone had found a way to flash it from an image..

On my 9400 with the A03 BIOS, SuperPi was getting 23 seconds for 1M.

With this A04 BIOS I get a consistent 26 seconds....which is BS...

Just a question, doesn't the system come with a driver's disc?

Yuh, Super PI was giving me 23, now it's 24.

Ive tried flashing back to A03 using Winphlash, but I get an error...its strange because it compares old and new image before flashing, and says it ok...fail on something saying bcpsys not found or something...what a pain...

Well, Dell got back to me...

"Thank you for contacting Dell Online Technical Support.
<o></o>
Form your email I understand that you have flashed the BIOS to A04 and you would like to revert back to BIOS version A03.
<o></o>
I have checked on the US website and the Australian website as well and the latest BIOS version for Inspiron 9400 is A02.
<o></o>
Rest assured that the system will be working properly with the latest official BIOS released on the website.
<o></o>
If you have other concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will be more than happy to assist you.
<o></o>
Meanwhile, I will check the release date of next version of BIOS and I will keep you updated with this information."

So that doesnt help much...

I find the latest BIOS for the 9400 to be AO2 also. Are you sure you have AO4?

Yes...there was a thread on here not too long ago....someone posted a link to the A04 BIOS (unofficial) but it was removed...

I wouldnt put any unofficial bios in as i wouldnt want to mess my system up, unless i was having serious issues of course.
I would of course update the bios on a peice of sh*t but not my pride and joy unless it was official. Just my 2 cents

Keep at it. Tell them you flashed a different bios to your system, reiterate that A02 doesn't completely support the C2D processor, and taht new systems ship with A03 BIOS. Then that you need a copy of the BIOS that came installed on your computer, that it wasn't A02, that it was A03. Make sure that you include purchase date, ship date, sys tag and all that jazz.

Keep bugging them about it. Hopefully they'll send you the bios.

Yea I might give it a go...I have searched but I am still unsure whether the A02 BIOS actually DOES OR NOT cover the C2D...does it?
Well, I don't have an e1705 but from what I've read, all the new C2D 1705s come with A03, and I remember reading that there were problems with A02 and C2D.

A02 doesn't support C2D that's why everyone needed A03 or above. Now from i've read here Your only not happy with A04 bios because your super Pi test is giving you 3 sec's more compared to A03 there is nothing wrong with the A04 bios otherwise dell wouldn't have one. Dell stressed it's the newer bios that will be shipping shortly with the new e1705/9400 anyway.
Now since Dell has found out about me releasing these bios's here i'm 100% sure they won't even give me A03 even if i asked I know it exists Dell is just too slow to release it.

Personally leave it as is for now until you can download the A03 I suggest you run that test again and make sure you haven't got any programs working in the back ground that can slow your test down. I had I8nfan running when i did my tests soon as i uninstalled it my super pi improved by 2 sec's.

Good luck and sorry to hear A04 is giving you slower Super pi results.
