Go 7950 512mb GTX - Page 2

8xxx

Yes, but you start to get into a chipset issue.

If you are saying, "I hope the 8xxx series fits in new Clevo models like a M570Ue or something (I made that up) with updated chipsets", then yes, a high probability.
If you are saying, "I hope it works with my existing architecture." Then it's a little trickier.

They need to update the 945PM chipset anyway because now everyone wants 4 gigs of RAM, and QC2D chips, and this chipset is quite outdated now with the 975 out.

Also, you need an O.S. that supports those DX-10 cards, and a lot of people think "Vista" supports DX-10, and only Vista Ultimate ($399 Vista) supports DX-10. How's that for teein' a guy off?

I hope, the 8800GTX fits into the Clevo M570U because it also fits into the Clevo M570A then

well considering they only leaked some possible pics of what a desktop "8xxx" type DX10 gpu might look like, i really doubt a laptop GO version will even be out by the end of the yr.

I say early next yr. we will see the 1st DX 10 mobile gpu (keep in mind amd and ati are now under the same roof)...and only a matter of time until intel starts talking to nvidia about merging

then we can see the possible combining of gpu cores w/ cpu cores where integrated graphics can be taken to the next level and take full advantage of the RAM etc.

Dx-10

Ok guys, but what about the OS to support it? What do you think of spending "x" for your DX-10 card, then having to spend $399 for Vista Ultimate? To me, it just isn't worth it.

good point...

Hard to say until I see some DX10 games. If I see enough 'must-have' DX10 games then I'll decide.

DX-10 vs. PS3

Ok, what about PS3 Premium at $499 with HDMI, 1080p & BluRay disk v.s. Vista Ultimate $399 + DX-10 card probably $500 for a notebook?

I think MS has really made a mistake here that the gaming industry is going to pay for. Ok, I have to say it, I hate MS.
I read that if you get everything for a PS3 it's closer to $1k. True?
Yang88She, what's that Core 2 Duo 2.0 in your system spec?

Ps3

Bomb, I think right now if you are buying someone's pre-prder on Ebay, or getting it non-retail it is, but it is "supposed" to sell for if I remember right $499 non HDMI/1080p smaller HD and $599 for full boat.

You're probably right, I think it was on MSNBC where I read the whole kit and caboodal would total $1k. Maybe they were including a HDTV.

That said, I don't really include the cost of Vista Ultimate into my personal calculations since I'll have to get it for work anyway. And I'm always upgarding cards to get the best farme rates out of my games anyway so it's not like I'm buying a card soley for it's DX10 capabilities.

Thanks Cody!

79900 Gtx

How much are they charging for the 7900 GTX? I can't read their language.
Well now this has got me thinking. Wonder if we'll see a pair of Go 7950GTX 512mb cards in SLI by the end of the year. Pair that with the 2.4GHz Merom and you'll have one beast of a lappy. (6)

Here's to hoping
@killernotebooks: I paid 460€ (~600$) for the 7900GTX 512.

7900 Gtx

If anyone needs Go 7900 GTX cards I can get them for $500... sometimes less.

Can anyone find a page with some benchmarks for the 7950?
I can run some benchies with 7950GTX Clock-Speeds. Which ones do you want?

nvm cody.

If you have luck like Cody's, with just a 75 mhz increase in core clock and maybe a slight fsb tweak you can hit 10k in 3dmark05! Oh and cody, I have been getting 3dmark05 cpu scores like 5k for some reason when i OC. So, maybe I can still get 10k after all! But the P-M does poon mine pretty hardcore in other stuff.

With the Pentium 4 571 added in with the 7950, omg, It'll be like an orgy for my eyes.
