Windows Media Player black border

Gidday guys.

When I use Windows Media Player to play a DVD on my W3J, I get an annoying black border an inch or so thick all around the picture (even in full screen mode) Anybody got any advice on how to get rid of it? Playback using ASUS DVD gives me a full screen , but freezes for a split second every 15 seconds or so, whereas WMP seems solid (except for the annoying border)

Regards to all.

Is it a AVI on DVD? on some formats Windows media does not strech to full screen because the DVD movies has only 720X480 resolution.

Gidday Ken, sorry to take so long replying. You are right, I think it's just the DVD resolution, as another one I tried seemed to stretch full screen OK. Pardon my ignorance, but what is AVI and is there any way to check what resolution a DVD is? Thanks mate.

It's how you encode it, there are different codecs out there but Media Player can't play full screens on some of the codecs.

Given that ASUS DVD freezes momentarily at regular intervals (from what I've heard this happens to quite a few people), is it worth uninstalling it and installing WinDVD or PowerDVD instead? Anyone got any recommendations? I tried Theatertek, but it must have clashed with something, because it refused to work properly and was a big disappointment. Thanks guys.
