My function key is locked?

I have a balance laptop from Wal-mart, and I"m not that literate with keyboards, so basically, normaly if you hit the "k" key, you get a k produced on the screen... I get a 2... unless I hold what I think is the function key, in the bottom left hand corner of the keyboard down... can anyone help please??

Check the NUM-LOCK key is not engaged.
