hi there; if i buy RAM (memory) from america will it work on my macbook that i bought in the UK? thanks very much

Sorry, no.

While both types of RAM still use binary, British RAM has a tendency to throw the occasional superfluous U into every few bytes of memory. Makes it completely incompatible with American memory.

it might create some issue with binary "word" intepretation, so as long as u run ram-accessed apps, u'd do fine

cheers ...

The dude is fvcking with you. You should be able to run 'American' RAM in your UK macbook. To the best of my knowledge the only difference between the UK and American models are the power adapters.

Just a bit of humOUr from Kakaze...

Yes, American RAM will work fine, as long as what you get is compatible with a MacBook. I'm running 2GB of RAM from Newegg (US purchase) in my MacBook purchased in Australia.

Just make sure you get DDR2-667 5300 RAM and you will be fine, and in reference to your other post, an American Hard Drive will work just fine as well. Again, just make sure that it is a SATA hard drive, preferably one with a 5400 RPM speed (you can run a 7200 RPM drive just fine, but it will chew up battery life)

To the best of my knowledge, the sudden motion sensor is located on the motherboard as opposed to the drive being somehow special. This way you can put in any drive you want it should run just fine. I have not yet had a chance to check this out personally, but I think it should work.
