I purchased this Nook Color specifically because I was taking a very long trip to China and wanted to be able to read without carrying a ton of books. I also liked that it had email capability...

I personally would wait till after VIsta is out before making such a hasty buying decision just because you can score vista for free early even if it is only a week or 2 more. I waitied a good 14 months before I decided it was the time to get WindowsXP and bought it retail as opposed to waiting for an OEM version that OEM's dished out.

I am waiting quite a while until I get Vista. You may not know, but it is generally a bad idea to buy software (especially a new Windows operating system) as soon as it comes out - it is more than likely to have bugs. And Vista is no exception - much of its code has been written from scratch, which cleans up clutter and possibly increases speed but at the same time introduces new bugs. Of course you might argue that they have had the beta for a long time, hasn't that hammered out all the bugs? Well I bet you there are some hackers that have found bugs in the beta version but (obviously) not let Microsoft know about them, because they are waiting until Vista is wide-spread so that they can make exploits and do damage to lots of peoples' machines.
No, I'm sticking to Windows XP, probably at least through Summer of '07.
