HP ZE4610 US won't turn on

I have a HP Pavillion ZE4610US laptop that won't turn on. No lights come on, no fans come on, nothing comes on period. I have gooogled the problem extensively and searched this forum to no avail.

During my search I've discovered quite a few others out there have the same problem happen to them. Here's my situation:

1. I know the power supply and the battery are supplying power. I checked with a volt meter on the cord, and the battery meter on the battery.

2. I have removed the battery, and tried just the cord, and vice versa.

3. I tried holding the reset switch on the bottom of the laptop for 15 seconds.

4. I have not tried replacing the cmos battery. (I don't even know how to, but I could find out.)

5. A temp fix involved with pressure over the video card was mentioned on a different model Compac. I don't know where the video card is in my laptop.

My laptop is just over 2 1/2 years old. I don't feel I've put a lot of hours on it. I have no trouble fixing any problem with my desktop computer, but I don't know much about fixing laptops.

I hope someone in here may have heard of this problem and can give me some advice on how to repair it myself. I will not pay $300 to have HP fix it. That's what they want. I'd rather use the $300 towards a Sony Vaio. I'll prolly just give the HP to my sister if I can fix it.

Hi Nos,

No actually the pin is properly firm in there. Also the battery doesn't start the laptop even with the cord unplugged.

it could be the power management chip on the logic board. without looking at it and being able to meter it out, its hard to say

Well, I'm wondering if you might know the appropriate height I should drop it from to bring a little satisfaction to myself. I have tall ladders. Believe me you won't ever see me posting a question about this brand of notebook in the future.

Ha ha. I was afraid noone could help me. Usually I always find the answers to self help fixes of computers, but of course the notebook is a different bird when it comes to repairs. Thanks for trying.
