Neither the 8886 or the 5660 are listed... I doubt if this thing will work, but if it does that would be cool. Regardless, you won't get more than two hours extra on these high capacity batteries unless they come up with something a lot more powerful. Just keep in mind it says UP TO 7 hours... I hate being annoying and repetative about things, but I don't want anyone going and spending $350 without knowing this might very well be the case...

http://www.hi-capacity.com/compguide...facturer=Sager

here is a direct link, since the "5200" series is list and "86"

do you all think these would work ?

I am sure they have some sort of return policy, so maybe i will take one for the team and check it out and return the thing if it does not do what we think it will ?

any thoughts ?

You can try, but you'd have to get the "tip" for the battery that will work on the 8886... and it is not listed. Check out the resellers listed and see if any of them have the tip listed. They do have a 30 day return policy... but still, you shouldn't have to do this for the team, lol. You can try if they'll accept a return... Just make sure when you use that battery you don't have the 8886 battery in there at the same time. I'm pretty sure this battery will make the computer think it's on ac and thus the computer will both run at full speed and try and recharge its own battery (which will KILL that external battery). Best of luck however you decide...

I have contacted both Valence & Powerpad.

I was advised that Powerpad was not suitable.

The one from Valence could be used with a suitable adapter but the battery life was 2-3 hours including lap top battery . ....Habib you are right it is not worth it .

Added to that you can only re-charge it 600 times . It costs $ 300.

Thanks for the confirmation :-) As I said, for those of you wanting something like this, I'd wait til the next big step in battery technology... when batteries went from NiMH to LiIon, that was a huge step... next time they do something like that, a battery like this would provide something practical for a lappy of this size and power (of course, who knows at what price).

Yeah, I don't think Sager battery life can be multiplied by 6 without carrying something as heavy as a desktop

Fuel cells are pretty new...maybe those would work in the future.

carry a big bag of secondary batteries

does the secondary battery get used before the primary? could you just swap the secondary battery with another secondary battery??

the kreep

Yeah - I jokingly suggested fuel cells on here awhile ago, but I don't think I'd want to be the first one trying to go through airport security with a 12lb "laptop" powered by a fuel cell

anyone know which airalines have plug in adapters by the seats if one is traveling business class ?
lol, feul cells prolly won't ever be allowed on planes.... you kidding? They're hydrogen.... lol, no matter how "safe" they make it, you will still get a Hindenberg incedent somewhere in there...

And Dan, I honestly have no idea, although I'd like to know myself. I think your best bet would be to look through an airline's website for business class and see what they offer... I'm sure they'd list it as an offer if it's there. Best of luck to you! (I'd look for you, but I just spent 8 hours reading history for a seminar tomorrow... time for bed, lol).

Dan have you got the 5560 or the 8886? If you got the 8886 there is I believe NO airplane adapter yet. You will cause the laptop to overheat!!

Maybe I am wrong buyt I read this somewhere in a thread by pCTorque. As with the 5660 -I am not sure!

Yes, the P4 requires 90W of power and anyone selling you an airplane adapter and not telling you most all planes only support 70W is either trying to keep you from knowing or don't know themselves.

Hmm... I'd say with the 5660 just go dual batts for as long as it'll last. I wouldn't expect airplanes to support a desktop computer :-) Although it's wierd that a car would and a plane wouldn't... I can see why it's more important to keep as much juice for the flying part :-)
