ok today i check with notebook hardware control and says 4% wear level

and about a week ago it was 0%

the battery is about 4month old and i dont use it alot mosty allways plug in.

is this normal to do this?

Try running on battery all the way down, then recharge and see if that rejuvenates it. Batteries need to be exercised every now and then.

If you're running on AC power for a long time, take the battery out. That adds wear to it. I had my battery for probably about 8 months and I had 16% wear. When I got my new battery I began to take it out while my lappy was going to be plugged in for a long time. That was probably about a month ago, and my wear level is still 0%.

Either way, 4% for 4 months isn't horrible if you think about it. Basic math says that you've got 96 months with your battery! Of course, real world is completely different, but 4% isn't that bad. I had mine only twice as long as you and had 4 times the wear. =\

4% isn't unreasonable especially at 4 months old. My battery is near 6 months old and has 2% wear. But batteries aren't all going to age at the exact same rate.

4% is nothing to be worried about.

hmm, where do you find out those percentage battery wear for my i8600 ? I don't see it in power options console in XP ( performance and maint )

I'm not sure that I trust the % wear. The figure (using mobile meter, in my case) goes up & down from week to week. Maybe the long-term trend is meaningful. Or it may be completely useless. Not enough info to decide.

Hmm, I've had my laptop four months and I'm at 21% wear. Damn.

blowjustinup is right, if you never use it, take it out. Li Ion batteries hate heat. When they are in your laptop, they are constantly getting a "float charge" which adds to wear, but even more than that, they sit right next to the hot CPU and hard drive so they are exposed to wear that way as well. The best bet would be to take it out, keep it in the fridge (dont freeze it!) and just pop it in when you want to use it (being very careful of condensate). Of course, thats somewhat extreme, but its the best you can do, and even then these batteries have limited useable lifespans (ive heard figures ranging from 1-2 years)

so i store it in the fridge when its out of the laptop?
If when you used it plugged in you didn't remove the battery so yes, it's normal.

Yeah, double bag it to keep out the moisture. Just be sure to not freeze it--in back of the brewskies will be fine.

Also, when you take it out of the 'fridge to use it, you'll need to wait until it warms back up to room temp.

I don't know. The refrigeration is good for the batteries to maintain a charge, but not too good for the electronics inside the battery pack.

I've always been told if you aren't planning to use a NiMH or LiIon battery pack for a while, to normally discharge it (don't fully discharge like NiCads though), and store it at room temp. Then fully recharge before use again.
