The enter key on my keyboard became dislodged, so I tried to fix it by pushing it down into place but it wouldn't stay downso I took it off thinking it would be simple to snap it back on.

I can't get this key back into place now! Anyone know how to fix this?

pop it back on! :P

You need to clip in the little plastic bits on the little bracket behind the key....its hard to explain in words....Im sure someone used to have a video or something on here that showed how to get a key back on...

Hey, that -is- easy.

Unfortunately the three little black pieces underneath the key came with it, so it wasn't just a matter of sliding the key back on.

I took out a magnifying glass and found out that one of these little black pieces lost its little black tabs so it can't lock into place. Now I know what's wrong so I can get it fixed. Thanks for the excellent video though!

If you still have your warranty, make a quick call (or a quick chat, or quick email) to Dell explaining that your keyboard has gotten damaged and you want a new one, and they should have it in the mail in a jiffy. Then it's just a matter of popping out the broken keyboard and popping in the new one.

Looking at the "video"... Is it just me or does his whole keyboard shake when he pops the key back in? I just tried it and my board is stiff as ever, I don't think I could do that... I would be worried if I were him, there are so many fragile parts resting directly under the keyboard, and if a tap can push it in a little bit imagine what something a bit harder could do...

Do you still have that video?

Replace the Keyboard it is a very inexpensive part and easy to replace.  You can go here www.parts-people.com to find a replacement.

No I do not work or am associated with Parts-people. I just know they are reputable source for Dell parts. I have used them before and have recommended them on all forums that I am associated with including the Dell Forum. I would recommend Dell Spare Parts also but I do not have the phone number for them at the moment.

Hello Double[oh]7,

My name is Pradeep and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell.
If you are able to lock the key back into the keyboard & use it then its allright, otherwise i would suggest you to replace the keyboard.

Thanks,
Dell-Pradeep S
