Cas Latency of m5550 DDR2?

Thread Starter
I'm trying to decide what to order, Either I can call Alienware and order a stick of 512mb DDR2 for $73 shipped or see if I can order some off of Newegg.

I have heard that Alienware cas latency is 4, but I need some proof.

Any information that would help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

there was another thread on this, but I do believe that it is cas latency 4

but from outside vendors all I've seen were 5-5-5-15

so no idea where AW gets the 4 from

download cpu-z, it's a utility that will tell you your memory and timings. AW was using CAS4, but I understand it was causing some issues, so they also may ship CAS5.

It will ship was CAS 5. Pissed me off, not that it's a big deal performance wise but if you are advertising cas 4, ship with cas 4. If yo know you can't deliver change the ad.

Don''t know if they use the same memory in the m5550 as they do in the m3450, but my laptop came with a samsung M470T6554CZ3-CE6 (DDR2 667) module with 5-5-5-13 timings and I added a twinmos with 5-5-5-15 from newegg. Both work fine in the system.
