Cheap gaming laptop?

Thread Starter
'Kay, the SO is getting a new laptop soon. We'll want to play a VERY graphically intense game (currently can only play with all setting set to low on a Sager 9750- game not optimized yet- beta) on it, and will need to be light enough to carry around for school.

Just trying to get some numbers together for now. For first set, here's what I need (goal is lowest price/best specs):

Price: $1k USD
Decent video card (ability to upgrade a plus)
Decent 64-bit processor (ability to upgrade a plus)
Capable of holding 4 gigs RAM (only need to buy it with 1 gig)
7200 RPM HDD (size doesn't matter)
SMALLER than 17" display
No need for OS
Warranty always a plus

In case that sounds impossible, find me the best for $1.5k UDS and $2k USD as well. ^^

wow this has got to be a joke.... there is no way to find a notebook that meets those needs for $1k.... not for a game thats only able to play on a 9750 and even then on low settings. with something needing that kind of power your talking at least a 17inch screen and likely sli needed to really play it. you have excluded all the currently available 15.4inch notebooks. no matter what you are going to be getting an expensive and heavy system if playing that game is your goal.

dell.com/outlet. if you are lucky you can find a e1705 with 7900gs for 900ish-1000

about "being able to hold 4 gigs of ram"
2 gig dimms are like 1500$ each.

a loaded 9750 is more powerful.... if the program he is looking to run is already only able to run on low settings on a 9750 there is no hope that an e1705 will be able to meet his needs. besides the fact he wants a screen under 17 inches. basically he wants the impossible

W/e

You could go to RJtech.com and customize a Compal HGL-30 for around 1000 that mettes your needs, although not sure about the 7600 being enough for you. Your requirments are too tough.
