Unfortunatly they do now have it anymore...

I am guessing CPU wise though, the 5750 is better?

yes indeed

Is it 'that much' different between the two? Right now on my work pc I have a P4 3.4Ghz...
well both core 2 duo and the turion will produce less heat and have a longer batter life compared to the P4

if I didn't like multi-tasking so much, and I didn't have a budget to keep in mind...I would have opted for the m9700

So if you like to game more, than go for the m9700, the m5750 will probably have a longer battery life and w/ 2 cores, it will multi-task far better

D'oh...I hate dilemas! :P
no worries, i was in your shoes haha

but I like the fact that the m5750 is slightly thinner...but when I do game, I always think..."what if I had a m9700?" haha

(shazza n HH would love to hear me say that)

but the m9700 wasn't in my personal budget

Here's a great scenario I can think of. At home, I usually at most have the following programs running at the same time:
-Firefox*
-Trillian*
-Visual Basic*
-MySQL/Apache (localhost server)*
-Photoshop
-Winamp
-AVG Antivirus*

Would the above 'multi tasking' be considered 'too hard' for an m9700 compared to the m5750? The stared items are ones I can see myself running most of the time. When I play games...I always close any programs that are running currently.

well Lost, when I mention multitasking...I mean like ripping a video/copying a cd/surfing the internet/watching tv all @ the sametime =D

the turion will have no problems doing all those that you have listed

Thank you so much yang for all the information your giving me...sorry for being such a n00b to notebooks. Since you mentioned HammerHead in your post..i've been reading his review of the system. B'ah!! I love both of these systems...I cant believe I was thinking about jumping ship to XPS!

For some reason the m5750 looks 'better'..I dont know why..the only thing I can tell is different is it's thinner...but it only looks like it's like .2 inches thinner (at least by alienwares tech page).

Of what you said above...the most I could see myself doing is ripping a video while surfing the internet...or talking on trillian.

I hope theres a better promotion soon than the 'spend $3500 get $200 off' one.

yeah both notebooks are great! (i wish i had money for both =D)

well no worries, that's what the forums are here for...keep us posted on your decision =P

I definatly will...I plan on getting it in either november or december...and you can almost bet i'll have more questions!

Again, thank you for your welcome...and all your help.

After this...time to work on my integraged carpc for my rx-8

...or maybe i can simply rig a bracket up in my trunk and put the alienware there when im in the car...something that wont hurt the finish. That way I can simply run the A/V cables up to the front through the center console that runs the length of the car...

I think i'm getting ahead of myself.

haha, a friend of mine did that...and did a really clean job...

has satalite radio, touch screen, blue tooth, dvd...etc etc.

but it can get expensive..

keep us posted.

Yeah...unfortunatly when I got my rx8...it didnt have the navigation system/screen/housing...so I had to purchase it...Mazda wanted me to buy the complete system when I went to them a few months ago (Amazing how a $2000 option....they want to sell for $10,000.). I ended up getting one from a wrecked rx-8 for a very very good price...perfect condition. I also purchased a xenarc touchscreen...took its guts out and put it in the 8's nav housing (also removing the factory non-touch screen).

Front end wise, i'm making my own...there's a lot out there...but i'd rather make my own...ahh the perks of being a programmer. :P

It's amazing how I like customising stuff...cars...computers...:P.
So far performance wise my car has a mazdaspeed intake...and an unlikely company is making an ECU re-flasher for the 8...Cobb...the company that is a HUGE subaru aftermarket company. They say they are getting very respectable gains...and also keeping reliability.

I like the RX-8, but the only rotary I like are the old FD's, FC's, n Turbo 2's =P

gotta boost the rotary haha

except for leaking apex seals...

I dont like that either. I just went and bought that Targus Micro 4 Port USB 2.0 HUB. Its perfect... I just plug it into the USB port on the left hand side, and poof, 4 ports! and its incredibly tiny.

Yeah...fortunatly I haven't had any problems with mine. It's been said that a major cause of leaking seals are people that start their engine up...and start racing the engine before it's cold. As the housing and rotor are different materials...they expand/contract at different heats...causing leaks. I love the FD RX7's...mmm.

Since you own an RX8... I have wanted to know if this is true....

RX8's dont leak like the old engines. However they burn more oil than a normal engine. According to the tech at the Mazda dealer I spoke with, says that its required to check your oil every gas up, as you will need to fill it as needed.

Now, we all know we dont -always- check the oil at gas ups... even though we are supposed to... but he assured me, if you didnt... you would pay for it.

I love the RX7s... the apex seals leak... but thats mainly because the seals are located at the three apexes of the triagular piston... not much you can do besides making sure you warm the engine before ripping it up and making sure you maintain it properly. I also have known guys that have leaks when they park it and while its cold, but once its all warmed up, the leaks stop.

The rx8 doesnt burn oil..it simply uses it to lube the apex seals. I'm not sure how much oil i've had to add since I got the car just over a year ago..but it wasn't much. I usually check it after every other fillup or so..if it's low...I add more. The more you go WOT...the more oil it uses as lubrication.

As for it leaking if you shut it off cold...it doesnt...it can however flood...but I simply let it warm up before I shut it off...The rx-8 is a very fun, and reliable car if you maintain it well....i've had zero problems with the engine...it loves to rev to it's 9000 redline a lot. :P
